I heard that La Marque ISD was in danger of being "disband" and absorbed into another district due to poor test scores, etc.

I do know that this CAN happen. I dont think that I have ever heard of this actually happing. Anyone?????

It happened to a district near Dallas a few years back. I think it was Wilmer-Hutchins that was absorbed by another district. I don't remember exactly why it happened.

Wilmer-Hutchins was Bankrupted. The state took over the school and closed it, sending the students to Dallas ISD schools. It has subsequently reopened.

Wilmer-Hutchins High School has been reopened but it is still part of Dallas ISD,

In the Houston area North Forest ISD was disbanded for academic and financial problems and absorbed by Houston ISD. I'm not sure that's a great improvement academically, but it is financially better off. The high school has been reopened and retains the name.
