This one, must have a poll. Should be a good opener.

Don’t know much about what Wharton has this year or how we will match up but if this game goes like the last 3 times these 2 teams have played it will be a good one. I think we have won the last 3 times we played them by a combined score of 5 points in some of the best nail biters I have had ever had the pleasure watching .

When in doubt, pick the D25 team over a D26 team.

Yep 25 did own 26 last year but Cuero has some of the best talent I have ever seen coming up so enjoy it while it lasts.

Did wharton's coach leave? And isn't Grissom and the RB also both gone? I'll take Cuero by 14

Finn is still the head man.

Hard to get posters from wharton to comment.

Scoop usually makes some insights.

Sure miss RaiderRed 2000 comments also, but he has moved on to the land of 2A dominance.

It was nice to have RR2000's insight on the Wharton scene.. As you mentioned, he's moved on to 2A and also turned into a marathon runner.. wish I had that determination.....

If they have found a replacement at QB, Wharton may be pretty salty. Finn is a very good coach.

I heard Wharton and Stafford each scored 4 touchdowns in the scrimmage last week.
The Tigers have speed and quickness as usual.

Cuero by a couple of scores in this one. Wharton may be getting back to being wharton?

Finn will be in his second year and with seven offensive and four defensive starters returning the Tigers may give Cuero all they want. Wharton by a touchdown.

Gillis said at the coaches' luncheon last week that Wharton was El Campo's toughest opponent last season prior to the semifinal against Carthage.

I agree with him.

Rivalry game

Usually teams will play their best games.

Cuero game

Just going by last year's wharton game plan vs Bellville and Navarro, 2 teams that love to run the ball, wharton may be in trouble. Cuero posters write of a man-child in the backfield.

Going again by last year, wharton does return running back D. Elliott, who was the district newcomer of the year.

Two outstanding receivers in Leeshad O'Neil and Donte Bell.

I think that it will be a high scoring, big offensive play game.

Agree Scoop??

Should be high scoring
Wish I could make it but I have to cover the Louise at Danbury game for the El Campo Leader-News

Just a couple of comments..

We got 4 inches of rain AFTER lunch yesterday - and the team was practicing on the new turf field after school with no water issues. Turf is already paying off.
The Downlow traffic is finally getting to "season" useage. Yea :)

If anyone has watched wharton in the past, it seems the way to beat their defense is to run power stuff right at them.

I think that is wht Bellville did and Navarro did .

Sealy went to it in fourth qtr and took the lead based on it.

As far as 2013, I guess scoop is the only one with preseason info on wharton roster.

Mayb if the Tigers can pull this one out, the fans will post.

They used to call that being " front runners ",

This season could be a brake out one for Cuero or a learning experience for a young team one thing is for certain the Gobblers will be getting better and better the talent pool looks good for the next 4 years.

Bellville and Navarro both run a slot t offense.
Of all of Bellville's opponents last year, Wharton was the least prepared to defend the slot t.
Now that they have seen it a couple of times, I am sure they will be better prepared this year.

I know we (Yoakum) will not. As I said, I think we'll be under .500 after ND schedule. We will get stronger in district with players coming back later in year from injury.

District, maybe right V8? Pretty solid top to bottom with in D26. No Sunnyside Up's in it. Ya'll have the biggest homerism for a team though. LOL. I don't think I ever seen a negative post from ya'll in regards to the team. It's always perfect, no issues.

D26 is the Big XII of 3a football.

They want to keep assuring everyone that their mediocre regular season records are due to the fact that they don't have any bad teams, but then they go to the playoffs(bowl games) and get their asses handed to them.

No disrespect Weebe , but Cuero has nothing to prove to any district , we have held our own in region 3&4 for the last 45 years. We are rebuilding ( Cuero) that is. Besides LaGrange and Giddings have also been perineal powers for many many years as well. Yoakum and Gonzales also play very hard , and are tough opponents ! Like I said , no disrespect , but we've all proved that we can hold our own !!!

GO MEAN GREEN !!!!

Like I said no disrespect , to any posters ! This is a great time of year in the great state of Texas. When Wharton and Cuero get together its always a good one. Beat of luck to all these young athletes , nothing like Texas high School Football. No Hard feelings Weebe , good luck to all!!

Sorry Manso, but the biggest homer district on this board is D30, and actually they are probably one of the sorriest districts in the state. And, I'm not kidding.

D26 is a good district, you can't a little friendly picking? I am pulling for D26 teams when D25 teams aren't in the picture.

If you joined the board in July, you haven't been around long enough to see any negative posts. You might see some later on, but so far the Brahmas are undefeated this year!

What do you have against D30? They have some decent teams and the few posters from Sinton and Ingleside have a realistic perspective.

Some of those East Texas posters are the biggest homers!

Ingleside had a hell of a team last year and was El Campo's toughest playoff game outside of Carthage and Stephenville.

This should be a really good game , I see Cuero pulling away in the 4th with their strong running game. They have one of the best RB's in Region 4 this year, he will be hard to stop. Cuero by 2 TD's.
