A group of 20 or so Snyder guys wearing Tigers shirts and caps showed up at Mustang Bowl.
Guess they wanted to see just how much better Sweetwater was going to be then Snyder this year. :taunt:

Mustangs score five times in final tuneup

The spread offense was a big change for Sweetwater’s football program when it was installed by newly-hired head coach Shane Mobley a year ago.
But it seems the Mustang players are finally adapting — even having fun with it.
After managing just one score in its opening scrimmage at Wichita Falls Hir-schi, Sweetwater’s offense scored on its first two plays against San Angelo Lake View in Thursday’s final scrimmage at the Bowl. And both scores came in spec-tacular fashion.
First, Bray Amos hauled in a short pass from quar-terback Kaegan Jeffrey and turned it into a highlight-reel 70-yard touchdown.
Following Amos’ score, the controlled format used for the first half of the scrimmage dictated that the ball come back to the 30-yard line, but facing the opposite end zone.
This time, Jeffrey imme-diately dialed long distance to Isaiah McGee, who out-fought his defender before running in for the TD.
Although the Mustangs couldn’t keep up that pace, they still had a big night against the Chiefs.
Jeffrey, the team’s junior QB, completed 11-for-16 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns. He also connected with De’Andre Gatson on a 17-yard TD during the “live quarter” portion of the scrimmage.
Number two QB Hayden Reeves also had an effective night, completing 5-of-9 throws for 73 yards includ-ing a 23-yard touchdown to Gatson, who had four re-ceptions for 61 yards.
That’s over 300 yards passing on just 25 throws.
Amos also had four catches for 76 yards; McGee caught three passes for a team-high 102 yards; and Dylan Bennett had three catches for 38 yards. Quen-tin Wetsel and J’Corey Amos also caught passes.
Jeffrey and Marquees Jenkins also had first-down runs during the night The Mustangs out-scored Lake View 5-1 in touchdowns, the Chiefs’ only TD coming near the end of the live quarter on a fourth-down run.
Sweetwater’s defense got to the end zone on Thursday before the offense had even taken a snap.
McGee stepped in front of a Lake View option toss and returned it for a 40-yard touchdown on the Chiefs’ fourth play of the scrimmage, and the Mustangs also recovered three Chiefs fumbles later on.

Here's a video of Jr. DB Isaiah McGee returning an interception for a "TD" on Lakeview's first set of plays to start the scrimmage.

And after seeing three scores in the first 20 minutes of the scrimmage the Snyder crew had thinned out quite a bit. :stirpot:

Trust me no one left from Snyder. Nice photography work!!! Lakeview couldn't cover a receiver in a phone booth. None of the boys were terrified when they left!!!

Damn! I figured the fact that the shade is barely beginning to reach the few guys in the last pic (while it's already crossed midfield in the first pic) would be what gave it away?

Lakeview has been awful for as long as I can remember. Sad too but that could be said for all San Angelo teams.

We only have 30 total on the varsity team and no size. I only counted 31 suited up for 4A Lakeview and as you can see they aren't any bigger.

My barber at this point has Lakeview going 0-10 this season with their closest game being @ Fort Stockton. He has 4-4A favorite
Wolforth Frenship beating them by 49 which is no surprise because those guys and Canyon Randall are what's left of 4A
powers in the West Texas/Panhandle regions now that most have fallen to 3A.

Meh, it was a pretty lopsided "practice" as it was.

Most of us will be in Eastland on Friday but refresh my memory. What happens Saturday?

Ah, that's right! Well, hit me up when you get here and we will do lunch or something. Hopefully, Ms.
Allen's and/or Skeet's won't be packed and we have to settle for Buck's again.

If I get to town early enough we'll do that...I may be cutting it close though, I have a 10:30am kickoff in Keller for Keller Central vs. Flower Mound...doing that game for the Dallas Morning News, so I may be cutting it close on getting to Sweetwater....

Yes..trying to write a story about a 74-0 game is tough

Haha I bet. That was back in 2010 and is still the only game I've seen in person (at any level) that was 52-0 at halftime.

Lubbock High faired a little better the following year and only lost 49-14 but that team went 0-10.
