Scrimmages:

8/16/13 Burnet @ Somerset http://www.dailytrib.com/2013/08/20/burnet-football-team-outscores-no-21-somerset-in-scrimmage/

8/22/13 Wimberley @ Burnet

Freshmen score: Each team scored 1 time.

JV score: Burnet 3 scores to Wimberley's 1

Varsity score: http://www.dailytrib.com/2013/08/23/burnet-football-team-dominates-scrimmage-against-wimberley/

One thing is for sure. For those who don't care for 7 on 7, I say it helps the boys tremendously. Burnet receivers are looking very sure handed and making some really tough catches in heavy traffic. Our QB's accuracy is very obvious.

Next game:

8/30/13 Burnet @ Fredericksburg

Who's going? I love going to Fred. Great little town.
Really looking forward to the season. The Dawgs are going to be a fun team to watch this year. Looks like the Jones Gang is taking this program in the right direction.
Also looking forward to my 8th grader's games. They're back to defend last year's district title. And speaking of my boy, I'm watching the Raiders-Bears preseason game. There's a Raider's TE who has the same first and last name as my boy. Sure sounds pretty on TV when his name is called!...:D

That is a pretty impressive write up for the Bull Dogs Cam. It looks like their will be a new sheriff in town come district if their performance against a solid Wimberley team is any indication. :)

Hard to say....every team in 8-3A will have talent......Every game will be a dogfight.....Hopefully, injuries are kept to a minimum.....Even Llano, who has the smallest enrollment, has a chance to compete...Here's their write up from their scrimmage yesterday: http://www.dailytrib.com/2013/08/22/llano-football-team-looks-sharp-during-scrimmage-against-early-canyon-lake/
Their QB is the real deal. The one team I know least about is Lampasas. Maybe someone can shed some light on them...

Could be my imagination, but seems to me Burnet boys have more energy...they don't seem to tire....wondering if that new summer program (Speed Killz Period) has something to do with it??...I know one thing, my kid is way stronger than he was 3 months ago! He loved the SKP program....

thanks bobcat!...after missing all but the first game of last season with an injury, he is really looking forward to this year....drove him nuts to be on the sidelines.....dang kid is wearing me out!...He loves baseball too, so we go out, throw the baseball...then break out the football!........Good thing I'm ambidextrous and can throw with both arms!......I think I stilll need shoulder surgery!!......He's trying to learn to throw with both arms as well...can you imagine having an ambidextrous pitcher?...I think he might be able to do it if he keeps working at it.....

I stopped in Burnet to check out the hs stadium and take a few pics back in December while on my way
to watch Cibolo Steele play Katy at Floyd Casey. Btw, I can't wait to see Liberty Hill's new stadium. It
looks like it will be bigger than alot of small colleges.

Anyway my questions are who has to paint this before each season? I'm guessing who ever draws the
shortest straw? And do they have to paint each blade individually? :D

Seriously though... here are a couple more pics I'll share for those that haven't seen the stadium.

That thing needs to be updated!

One of the ticket offices....

No doubt Sweet....that Liberty Hill stadium is nice.........I like the way modern stadiums are being built upwards and not sideways.....that way everyone is near the 50 yard line....How come stadiums weren't built this way from the beginning???.......Burnet's stadium was built back in the 80's....the home side is very nice still with plenty of seating.....http://www.texasbob.com/stadium/stadium.php?id=41
..Maybe someday we'll get us a new one too!........
As far as the bulldog logo painted on the field.....that is a great question!.......I have no idea who paints it but they do a great job!......Maybe they bring in some of the inmates from the local prison....they're usually pretty good artists!.....I did hear that buff4ever has been mentioned at the school board meetings as a possible candidate to paint our dawg....Cause everybody knows now that he's a hell of a buffalo painter!!....Ya just gotta get him to finish it!!!.....:D

Hey Cam..just to share..we were welcomed by the fresh aroma of pasture and cow patties as we passed the school and entered the stadium gates. Reminded me so much of my grandpa and his little spread out in Boyd, Tx. Thanks Burnet!!

Gotta love small town football!.....Shoot!...When I lived in Mesquite, I remember going to North Mesquite games and smellin' nothin' but car exhaust fumes from nearby LBJ Freeway!.....
And speaking of that fine cow pattie smell, you should go to the rec center baseball fields on a calm night!....Absolutely delicious!...:)

I hear ya Tejas!.....You'd feel right at your grandpa's home at my place....I don't have cows but my neighbor does.....got those big hay bales with that certain smell....and some confused roosters that crow all night long!....Last time I took care of his animals while he vacationed, I got in a big fight with the big alpha rooster!...All I was tryin' to do was feed the chickens and this big boy came after my arse and he mean't business!..........He got me so riled up when I got home I kicked the cat....then again, I'll kick a cat any chance I get!...especially purple ones.....:stirpot:

BullDawgDad or Greendawg, I understand Bulldog Travis Freeman has made a great comeback after a lengthy illness. Someone told me he would not play again but I think he's back in uniform. One coach told me he went from 190 lbs. to 140 lbs. during his battle. I don't know all the details of what happened to him. Maybe you can shed some light....
