Well, this should be a good contest to see if our secondary has corrected what hampered them last week in Bellville. Receivers running free behind them. This lil' firecracker, a 4 yr starter at QB for Refugio can dern sure sling it with the best of them. Coming off a 4000+ passing yard, 57 TD season. Must pressure him to help the secondary and not allow him to zone in on receivers.

Good measuring stick this week and last for the Dogs. Proven winning opponents, who are state ranked out the gate. They did ok last week overall. See if they can build on it week to week now, and peak when the games matter just over a month from now in D26 play.

Should be a good indicator here, I agree. Like to see us clean up the mental miscues (bobbled snaps, etc) and just come out healthy and build off last week's performance. Yes, secondary needs a good showing. D and O-line need to control things however. Put some hurry up in that hurry up offense during the live periods. Get that flow going heading into Columbus game.

Probably smart to keep him out anyways. I like watching him play though. Hope he get's well soon.

A friend of mine from Aransas Pass said that Refugio has some super fast receivers. Yoakum's defense better be ready.

Yup, they have 3 or four rocket burners. And, several other athletes. We have 2 injured from the starting secondary, that will be out. One will be back when district starts hopefully, other a couple weeks after that. Sure miss them back there. No excuses, time someone steps up. Pretty easy to remember, NO ONE BEHIND YOU DEEP!!!. Basic 101 in secondary school as I recall. They'll be fine. I think the message got across loud and clear.

Can't tell nothing on the so-called low hit on Q via this parents hand held, shaky clip. Makes ya wonder, if some of Herrings past actions caused it though, the way he is seen flying around the field like a kid himself, like he expected something to go down. just sayin

Yoakum has no history with Refugio, so--I'd be shocked if anything other than clean ball is seen tonight. We got too much to work on, for Herring to take his ball and go home on us.

Is this the same goofy coach who claimed he had to beat teams 90-0 so his starters could get snaps, timing down and become playoff prepared, by playing them in 4th quarter? If so, better play all your studs, so they are prepared for East Bernard this time.

If you hit the Refugio players hard or get the best of them, get ready for some dirty play.

It will be a one way dirty play then. Coach Kornegay and staff from Yoakum WILL NOT tolerate I assure you. We got too much work to do. No time for that crap. Hope Refugio stay's and play's in this scrimmage?

Yes, Coach Herring is still there, and made that statement regarding why he play's his starters up 70+.

I watched Sinton vs. Refugio for I don't know how many years and see those two teams knock the crap out of each other, but it was all hardnosed clean football! That was Sintons best rivalry despite what some Sinton folk on here believe because they were barely poopin diapers then!!

The normally very vocal Yoakum folks are extremely quiet tonight. It must have not been a good night.

3-1 Refugio during Scrimmage part. Then They played a half and
Refugio 3-1. Travis Q played and looked good early but had a couple of nits.
T Heights had both of Yoakum TD at QB running the ball.
Refugio has speed at all skill positions and will make another deep run.
Yoakum has some work on Offensive Line and wrapping up on tackles on
Defense. But going against Refugio verses Victoria East is like
Nite and Day difference. Refugio could has put up whatever they
wanted against East. Very cleaned played scrimmage.

Yeah, Refugio put it on us good. They are good. As expected, Dog secondary got lit up. Did pick Q off 3 times though. He's an awesome QB. And yes, they had some speed outside. It's a scrimmage, and we did score once out of 2 of those. Fumbled at the 3 in the live portion tonight. So, could of tied it up at 2-2. We have work to do. But, we can't create speed in the secondary. We'll have to make do, till our 2 starters return come district time.

I concur, they are loaded. Size, speed and will be scoring 80+ margin victory's once again on opponents. Amazing they can grow these kids there, year in and year out. Probably beat 80% of 3A schools my guess.

Q, no sign of injury from first scrimmage either.

Send them to East Texas, we have some little 2A teams that would love play them, Yoe, Tatum, and Daingerfield to name a few. Big difference though, they would stop after fifty and send in the 2nd team.

This early test will just make the bulldogs tougher later in the season.
Yoakum & Smithville are in a race too space! 6 weeks and 5 games to get it right & be clicking before the district opener.
Good luck to y'all in non-district! Lets hope both schools can make it to the opener healthy & with momentum!

How does y'all non-district schedule play out?

R-4 teams have won state last 2 yrs in 2A
D-2 Refegio in 2011 and East Bernard in 2012. And Cameron
Yoe is south of Waco so I don't think that's East Tx. I know both
Tamum and Dangerfield are tough and would be a good match
For Refugio but I believe they are D-1 so it probably
Want happen.

We be lucky to win 3 of our 5 ND games IMO. Columbus, Sinton, Edna, Hallettsville, Rice

I hope Ingleside can get by them, this is our season opener....Ingleside is working out some kinks still, I hope they are ready come week zero or it could be a long night.
