I remember where Chris Hart said our weakest part of defense was the rush. Looks to me that rush and pass yards are about equal, and if I remember our games there were way more rushing plays against us then passing. I don't see any weakness there, does anyone else?

Paintball, I see no weakness either. As for me I feel the defense is doing a great job. They are certainly taking their game "to" opponents. There seems to be an intensity this year that really stands out and is very exciting to watch!

I don't see any weakness there, does anyone else?Paintball, All I said was that I think it is the weakest part of our defense, and I ALSO said that I STILL thought it was STRONG. I also said it is evident against STRONG, PATIENT, RUNNING teams only, and we have only played one of them in Gatesville and LaShon Thayer had around 160 yds. I never meant that we are WEAK there, I meant IMO it is our weakest point. But, if all goes well, we won't get to test my theory until at least the semi-finals(if we make it there), because the only team left on our schedule that remotely resembles the kind of opposing team that I am describing is Liberty Hill, and they are only a PATIENT, RUNNING team, they lack the strength(no offense to Liberty Hill intended). If in the playoffs my predictions hold true, we will start out against Somerset, then Wharton/Cuero winner and then probably Sinton/LaFeria winner and (I don't know much about LaFeria) I wouldn't consider ANY of them STRONG, PATIENT, RUNNING teams. If that holds true and we advance to the semi's we should see one in Navasota or Gatesville, barring Jasper finding their groove. So I really don't see us getting the ball pounded at us again before then, but hey I've been wrong before. ONCE! :)

BTW, Stephen McGee has 16 TD passes and 0 ints

Burnet only has trouble against the run when the offense gets bogged down or scores quickly. But lets not forget that Everman ran for over 400 last year. I do think we are better this year and the blame has to go on the offense for much of that because of the lack of first downs due to injuries to McGee and Shipley. It no doubt is the weakest link in the defense, but let's just say if what we have seen thus far is weak. Look out for them DAWGS!

Chris, I believe with our potent offense it would be very risky for a team to play us with such a game plan. If we go up 21 points like in Gatesville, the clock is their enemy. If a team has a quality passing attack, I think it would be more likely they will come at us away from Shipley with the pass.

Mash4077.....I have asked this question before, but never got an answer. Is Decatur's Dane any kin to Southlake Carroll's Dane of the early 90's?
He was an all-state RB/DB and went on to star at Texas Tech.

MASH, I'm not positive about this info on Shipley, but I would guess 6'0", 170-180, 4.4.

Olddog, I believe the Dane you are talking about had the first name of Dane instead of it being his last name. His name is Dane Johnson, he did in fact go on to play at Texas Tech. The boy was really good.

I remember Dane Johnson well, he was a thorn in our side during the mid 80's. The dragons were in our District then and knocked us out of the play-offs in the semi-final game 23-0,after beating us 24-0 earlier in district. they went on to go 16-0 Then to top it off, they won state in basketball after finishing 2nd to us in district. We went 32-3 and Graham beat us at Regional in the semifinal game. Carroll then beat Graham and the rest is history. I was so glad to see them go 4A!

Thanks for straightening me out on that one.....guess I had a couple of synapse(sp) miss-firing due to old age and rustiness!
