Coaches Comments: Team Strength: “From the offensive side of the ball, it’s the line. Four of five starters are returning. We’ll also have a great player in Jarrett Stidham who will be taking snaps and touching the ball on every play. Defensively, our linebacking corps will be a huge positive for us. We return five of five there with experience. We also have a three-year starter, Jonah Noah, returning at defensive end, and another three-year starter, Mookie Carlile returning in the secondary who will be in the middle of the field leading that secondary.” Team Weakness: “Well, offensively we lost a great class, especially at the skill positions. Defensively, we lost both corners so the secondary has questions.” Tell Us About Your Team:* “I’m excited about the direction we’re heading. We had 30 seniors last season, which for a school our size is fantastic. We’re set to have 30-plus again this year. Coming off a state title, the target on our back is a lot bigger. People are going to want to knock you off. We have a great group of guys coming this year and I’m really excited about that. Those who graduated this year left a path to follow and now it’s up to our guys to follow suit. I think we have a great opportunity to bid for another state championship this year.”

Mike Says: The Yellow Jackets were able to win their 5th state championship in 5 tries last year. They graduated a lot of quality players but will bring back 4 Of their 5 offensive linemen and a good group of defensive players. They are one of 3A’s biggest schools and are no longer the hunter but the hunted. They play in a very tough region but their biggest may be Argyle in the semifinals. Look for them to only lose 1 or 2 games in the regular season and then make another run to the championship.
Chris Says: Stephenville started off with a loss to Monterrey Tech and it worried some fans around the state.* They followed it up with 13 straight wins an their 5th state championship.* So what do they have to worry about now?* Sure, they lost a lot of players, but exactly half their starters on each side of the ball return and those returners are excellent athletes.* In addition to a solid crop of battle tested players, the Yellow Jackets have one of the strongest traditions and community support in the state.* This Stephenville team will win district.* They will roll into the playoffs and shouldn’t have much trouble until they come up against Argyle in the semis.* If they can get by the Eagles, our pick for state champion, then there is no reason why they couldn’t be right back in the title game.

I have no doubt the Ville will be in the championship game, I hope my Dawgs are the one they face. I believe the Carthage Dawgs are good enough to play with the Ville this year. Would be one of the best games a fan could watch. Good luck to the Ville and my Dawgs. I pray for no injuries and both make it through and are 100% at the end of the year. God Bless your players, fans, and coaches.
