According to today's houston chronicle
Going by tube at 760 miles per hour
Passengers would ride in small capsules traveling as fast as 760 miles per hour while floating on a thin cushion of air inside the tubes.
Plans are for a system between San Francisco to Los Angeles in 35 minutes.

Great idea but I think we are a long, long way away from having the technology to make it a reality.

Sounds like a good idea. But what if you're on that and the big one hits California?

If you're on that when the big one hits, you become ketchup when you crash.
On another note, I agree it looks cool, but it may be wiser to build a prototype in a geologically sound area. Houston to El Paso would be a good run, I think.
