Talked to Dr. Briethupt Monday after the UIL Press Conference for a few minutes about realignment...I asked him point blank did he think viable districts could be created in 4A for 2014 with just 185 schools and splitting the divisions....his reply was "We probably need about 100 schools in each division" to have workable districts"

So with that being said I expect about 10-15 smaller 4A's to join the fold in the new 4A....that top # could probably creep over 1050

So would the top number be the only one to go up, moving would be 5A DII to 4A DI or will the bottom number also go down (is what I am kind of getting you are saying) and the likes of Lago Vista, Cameron Yoe, Tatum, & Salado would move up?

I cant see the bottom going down further because 2A (which will be 3A in 2014) only has about 100 schools in each division also....so taking from the bottom would leave them w/less viable districts...

4A (which will be 5A in 2014) has almost 250 schools now, thats where you can pull from and with split divisions enrollment disparity is no longer an issue...

So my guess is the top end of 3A (4A in 2014) goes up to at least 1040ish...

I wonder if they will change the cut off number between Div I and Div II? In 3A Reg I with their projected split number and the current Reg I schools there will be 27 Div I and 18 Div II schools. So I guess a couple of Reg II and Reg III will be brought into Reg I

Still think the division split is a stupid idea. Also do not like the 4 team playoff thing too.

I concur. Makes very good "cent's" to them, and sense to us. UIL in the past didn't always go the sense route. Give them credit, they are finally getting things right.

That 70% couldn't stand the heat so they wanted out of the kitchen.
