Our junior QB (Tre' Hights) will not be participating at the state games. Going to London with church group that week. Our QB from last year, Chase Hermes (started most games, then shuttled in and out possessions with Tre' final 4 games), will be at the helm. He is solid himself though. Thought ya'll should know all the correct info before making your picks.

Celina has not ever been eliminated in pool play, they are coming off a 7 on 7 state championship, they are better this year than last, and they have not lost to anyone below 5A all spring. Their only losses are to Southlake and Arlington Bowie by less than a TD in a qualifiers only practice tournament. They will win their pool or come in second. They will make it to at least the quarter finals.

O, ok--thanks gator. I leave it as is. Not sure if they have played the other 3 in their pool yet this year. I like Somerset and AW getting out of this pool. Probably the toughest pool IMO.

If the other teams in Celinas pool have never played them in 7 on 7, they better be ready to score every time they have the ball. Brownwood and Celina have played a lot at the state tourney over the years. I know exactly what Celina is going to try to do on O. We stand a better chance of getting a stop or 2. If you've never played them in 7 on 7, about the only hope you have of getting a stop is that Celina just doesnt convert on downs.

They beat us earlier. They are well coached and disciplined. 7 on 7 is tailored for them.

Celina is nearly impossible to stop....the only team I've ever seen really shut them down was New Waverly a few years back...

So, just hand you the title automatically cause you beat some 5A schools, better than last year (maybe the others were weaker last year too) and Celina won it last year. Don't bite your lip marler, might hurt.

Trust me, I mean no disrespect to Celina. Don't get any better football out of a program than ya'lls over the decades. Like I said, to me, that's one of the toughest pools and I like those other's moving on out of it. Was hard not picking Wimberley not getting out of their pool as well. Don't mean nothing, other than about a dozen of these teams, I have not seen them play this summer. So, it's just a gut feeling.

Celina will likely be in the finals. Mark it down.

Know anything about their QB?!

My only point is that to predict that Celina will not make it out of pool play is petty disrespectful to what is arguably the best 7 on 7 team since the inception of the state tournament. 5 state titles mean something.

I'm looking forward to see some great 7 on 7 next week. Several teams have a shot at the finals. My favorites are obviously Stephenville with Celina, Gilmer, Graham, Brownwood, Sota, EB, FWAS, Burnet, AW being in there as well.

Why isn't a team that usually does well in the 7 on 7 and finished last year 15- 0 getting any love. Plus, they have the same QB. Just wondering.

Well, Matt did give the Yoemen some love in his pre-tournament rankings: http://theoldcoach.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1521404
Overall, I feel that top 10 looks really strong.

This is a 3a board, so a lot of people may not be aware of teams outside of the 3a ranks, being even more so true if they are not in a local general viewing area. Cameron Yoe has done well this summer, going undefeated in both SQT's, and then just recently wrapping up league play by defeating 5A Temple, 49-25. Temple is also ranked #16 in the 4A/5A pre-tournament rankings. Mr. President is definitely a great talent. Baylor got a good one at WR.

As I said earlier, I do believe this 7 on 7 team looks better than the team a year ago. However, if the Yoemen manage to get out of pool play and lose in the 1st round, it wouldn't surprise me. The same thing happened last year, and everything ended up turning out all right.

The Leopards exited in first round last year, and "salvaged" a good 11-man season also...
