Here's some info on the State 7on7 tourney.

https://www.txstate7on7.com/stateinfo.html

Since this will be held in the Austin area... my plans are to hit as many good BBQ joints as I can! Top of the list is Franklin's in Austin. Any other recommendations we could hit? Who else likes great BBQ?

Any of the places mentioned in this thread worth trying? ;)

if you go to Franklin's be ready to invest several hours standing in line...you'll miss any games in the morning just from waiting in line.

Any Lockhart joint is good but they all close early so getttng there will be challenging...Kruez is open til 8:30 so that may be your best shot

Salt Lick is open later...just go to the one in Driftwood

Cool Matt! Isn't there a place in Taylor? Mueller's or something like that?

There is or was a place in Bastrop that was good but can't think of the name of it. There is also Zimmerhanzel's in Smithville

Franklin's on Thursday wouldn't cause any missed games if we get there early. It opens at 11:00 and plan to get there by 9:30 or 10:00? Worth it?

I definitely want to hit the top 3 listed... the others would be bonus.

If you get in line early enough at Franklin's and maybe if Stephenville gets the 2pm start you'll get there..gotta factor in Austin traffic being a nightmare also

I might try to hit up Salt Lick in Round Rock one day if there is time. I had an opportunity a few weeks ago at the baseball state tourney, but they closed at 10:00 on Friday.

If I were doing a tour I'd skip Franklin because of the line.

In no order particular

1) Snows, Lexington - Only open Saturday but opens at 8 am
2) City Market in Luling, Luling - Opens early
3) J Mueller BBQ, Austin - Opens at 11
4) Blacks, Lockhart - Has passed up Kreuz and Smitty's IMO. The other two are the tourist spots
5) Louis Mueller, Taylor - get the beef rib
6) Franklin, Austin - if you don't mind lines

Pro Tip: While in Taylor go to Taylor Cafe and get the chicken. It is the best BBQ chicken you will eat.

I'd skip Salt Lick honestly.

Why don't you bring the Tailgating gear and fix us a little Hollywood BBQ?
