Inexpensive vacation destinations that I have enjoyed.
Niagara Falls- Fly to Buffalo (eat at Anchor Bar and Grill) and hang at the Falls and surrounding area for a couple of days and then drive up to Toronto. Great time.
Vegas...you all know the drill there.
Montego Bay Jamaica, great beaches and beautiful area. The people are very friendly too.
Panama Beach Fla...I'm not a huge beach guy but my wife is and she loves it.

Expensive trips but worth it once:
Krabi Thailand- Really interesting place with uniquely beautiful islands (we went to the Phi Phi Islands on a day trip) and beaches. We stayed at Phulay Bay.
Venice and Florence Italy- Really beautiful and the history is fantastic. We took in Rome on this trip but I preferred Venice and Florence to Rome.

I'm guessing your budget looks a little different than mine, for inexpensive we look at places like schlitterbahn or wet-n-wild or six flags and a ball game. For expensive we look to maybe go to South Padre.

I hear you!

We usually go see our son in Florida each summer.. He rents a big house on Anna Maria Island (South of St Pete) and it is beautiful there. Lots of "Yankees" have houses there but they aren't there in the summer so it's not too crowded. The water is pretty blue and the sand is like sugar.

Banff, North of Calgary in the Rockies, most beautiful place I have ever been.
Vancouver BC, Whistler, and London were also special. Got to play golf at all
three places. Banff was in the heart of the mountains, and so pretty...

Cheap vacation - Wimberley - Blue Hole, Jacobs Well, vineyards, Krause Springs, Pie Factory, good people.

More expensive - Mayan Riviera - Tulum area. Arrive at Cancun, rent a car, and drive as far and quickly away down Mayan coast as I can get, until 4-lane road turns into dirt road. Isolated beautiful beaches, cheap food, great people. Will visit son on St Maartin this summer, though.

It's been over 25 years but Toronto was nice. The CN Tower was amazing. Drove down to The Falls. Just absolutely beautiful from the Canadian side.

Steamboat Springs, CO

This was a combination of a get away type of vacation plus a baseball tournament....what more could you ask for. Great scenery and all types of activities for travelers and tourists to take part in.

Any vacation is a great vacation....from a weekend in Fredricksburg, to a week at the Hill Country Hyatt, Ruidoso, Cozumel, Cancun, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Atlantis, San Francisco, Miami, Key West, and several other beach areas....all great. However some of our best times have been driving to Tennessee and all around that area or spending a weekend in the metroplex going to Rangers games and chillin at the Great Wolf Lodge. It doesn't have to be anything terribly expensive. No work, family time and booze and I'm in!!!

A Staycation at home in my own bed. Go to the Casino Winstar 2 days(30 miles) fish the rest of the days. Go to Grandkids ball games and just chill. That was about 2 weeks ago. Loved every minute of it.

Lake Tahoe in January. We flew into Reno and they closed the airport down as soon as we landed as a big snowstorm was set to hit. Rented a four wheel drive to get over the pass just ahead of the storm. Got to our casino hotel as the bottom fell out . It snowed for three solid days. Had a great time playing, snowmobiling and tubing. The Heavenly Summit was closed due to winds but the lower mountain was open. We went on a back country snow mobile tour on fresh snow under a brilliant blue sky. Driving around in deep snow was a challenge but fun. The Lake finally came into view on our last day. That was our third trip to Lake Tahoe. The following year had heavy snow but nothing like that. Our summer trip is in Cancun. Now that's another story. That all inclusive thing is hard to beat. Lots of sun and humidity. If you've never experienced Cancun. It will leave an impression. Never had a bad experience.

Lol... That reminds me! Puerto Rico! If you haven't been there... Go! It's beautiful. Great beaches, most accessible rain forest in the world, awesome history in San Juan, beautiful people who speak good English, US currency, no passport required. Bacardi capital of the world, supreme mojitos! What more to ask for.

That was from Luther Hill Church Camp near LaGrange last summer.

It's kinda funny the way her mouth opens after flipping the cup.

If I remember correctly, the Devil's River is the only river in Texas where the landholders own all rights to the banks of the river. In other words, you cannot put in to shore without trespassing. Is that still true?

Yes. I read an article in Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine a few years back about the river. According to the article, there are 2 great white water rides in Texas, the Rio Grande way out in Big Bend and Devil's River but they said to be sure to stay in the water...the land owners don't take too kindly to trespassers ;)

United States -
Grand Canyon...from the river.
Grand Tetons - Just sitting on the shore of Jenny Lake, no photo can compare.
Charleston, South Carolina
Rocky Mountain National Park - just plain pretty.
Glacier Bay Alaska- Awesome views and sounds.
Civil War Battlefields in the East.- When you go and see what you have read about all your life and and you can "feel" it and "hear" it.
Most any National Park there is something that gives you that "Ahhhh!" Moment.

North America
Any of the Beaches on Grand Caymen

Paid Vacations
Iraq
The City of Ur - You are walking in a place mentioned in the Book of Genesis
The Deserts - Nothing but sand as far as you can see.

Afghanistan - The Hindu Cush - If you ever want to see BIG Mountains and absolutely gorgeous scenery- I wouldn't take the tour bus though

One of my best vacations was Cancun.....and the short boat trip to Isla Mujeres. The snorkeling on Isla Mujeres was awesome!.....Met an ex Navy seal and his wife there....As soon as we hit the water, both our wives were stung by some sort of animal on the reefs....I got stung too....burned like crazy....Both our wives said the heck with it and got out.....so, I got stuck with this Seal dude and he's tryin' to get me to dive deeper!....Shoot, my ears wouldn't let me cause of the pressure pain.....and this guy was a fish!!! I couldn't keep up with him.......but I still had a great time!......
