I know everybody is gearing up for football but I have a baseball question. I just recently found out Kennedale didn't start playing baseball til like 1991.....whats the story there??? Anyone know why Kennedale never fielded a team before that???

I don't know about Kennedale but we at Abilene Wylie didn't start baseball until 1990. Maybe it was too expensive for some of the smaller 3A's, which we were at the time. Seems like most schools have a baseball team these days.

Pero, on the contrary, Abilene Wylie has had a baseball team well before 1990. I can recall that far back, because Sinton whipped them in the 1988 3A baseball state semi-finals.

Are you sure that wasn't the town of Wylie instead of Abilene Wylie?

Thats about the time Sweetwater added baseball, and we were a 4A school. I guess with all the summer leagues that go on, they didnt feel the need to field a team for the school.

I know about beating Abilene Wylie in the semis, and it was 2002, not this year. Sinton beat Canyon in the semis this year. I know because I was there. You mentioned beating them in 1988.
According to the UIL website, when Sinton beat Waco La Vega for the 1988 championship, the other teams were Wylie and Bellville. If you prefer, I could ask Coach K about it. :D
