Pretty cool article about what the 3A split would have done to last years teams.

 Could this mean that smaller schools would play schools closer to their size and schools like Stephenville, Navasota, Kilgore, Carthage, El Campo, Abilene Wylie, La Marque, Henderson, Argyle and Graham not to mention Brownwood would play schools their size?

Could make for some very good playoffs. I like it!

Gilmer will undoubtedly dominate Division II.

"No brag, just fact" as Walter Brennan used to say on "The Guns of Will Sonnett."

It will be sad to see the rivalries of the District of Doom end, though.

Not if we can convince just 30 or so band and drama students that Gilmer is an awesome place to live ;-)

I don't see why Kilgore got the #3 spot in the final rankings, while Gilmer got the #4 spot seeing as Gilmer beat Kilgore head-to-head. Other than that, I see his point. Gilmer has won a title in BOTH divisions with middle of class numbers (actually in the lower half). As a matter of fact, in 2009 Gilmer won the D1 title with smaller numbers than the D2 champion (Carthage). That was weird how that worked out, but now, because of the split there will always be those that will doubt the D2 champion could've beaten the D1 champion. Of course, that can always be debated as it stands now, too. It really doesn't matter where Gilmer is put they will be able to compete with anybody in 3A, D1 or D2. If in fact Gilmer does go D2, I agree with Aesculus Gilmus that we will be the team to beat just about every year for sure.

Bite your tongue! Celina will always be in the mix, too. There are a "few" perennial powers still in D2 so it won't be a cakewalk every year. I'm pretty sure the numbers will change somewhat, too.

LaMarque's enrollment right now is around 640

The sad part of that is their boy to girl ratio should give them D1 numbers.

Would be interesting cause Matts projections also had Celina going Reg 1.

Wow! Leveling the playing field? Actually letting teams play against schools similar in size? Who would have ever thought about this cutting edge idea? :stirpot:
