What is the SWAG for the cut number...figure we will be one of the largest Div II or the smallest Div I...I say we will be @ 650.

6A version

So is it pretty much a done deal and we will be going to a split division 6A system and 7A is no longer on the table?

Will this bring a chance that some of the bigger 2A teams could be coming back to 3A?

Actually I think small 3A and big 2A may be together in the new 3A.

and

The current Mid to Big 3A will combine with some of the currently Small 4A teams to make the new 4A....

Matt would better be able to give us an idea what the numbers will look like.

Will be very interesting to see how exactly this plays out, especially for Port Isabel. They turned in 615 this realignment and are expected to have around 600 at the next alignment (numbers going down slightly) so they'll be right at the cusp between the new 3A and 4A.

When I talked with Carl in January he said the cut would be

D1 676 - 1004

D2 450 - 675

I'm not sure if he made any tweaks since then.

That is the same for the current 2012-2014 numbers, 3A is running 450-1004.

2012-2014 UIL Realignment cutoff numbers:
Here are the cutoff numbers the UIL used to determine the classifications for this last realignment

5A: 2090+ (245 schools)
4A: 2089-1005 (250)
3A: 1004-450 (190)
2A: 449-200 (235)
1A/6M: >199.

If this is so then there will be little movement and 3A simply becomes 4A. Also 4A will then have the least amount of schools (just as 3A does now).

Clarify this for me Matt, Next alignment will 4A be like current 2A and be split DI and DII from the get go or will it be at the play offs?

Matthew328
02-26-2013, 02:11 PM

K, thanks... The confusion is fading and its starting to make sense.

Also, how come they dont average the numbers from current 2A thru 5A (920 schools total) and put an even number in each:

6A = 230

5A = 230

4A = 230

3A = 230. ?

No, from what the mock realignment someone put here form old coach it looks LH could be in a District with:

LH
Lampasas
Burnet
Taylor
Austin Reagan
Austin Eastside Memorial,

Reagan and Eastside could easily opt up thus throwing that into a mess..lots of real interesting scenarios

Its hard to say, I can see Matts point with Reagan and Eastside wanting to stay in a District with the other AISD schools.

That leaves LH, Lampasas, Burnet, and depending on the top cap on 4A-DI, (Marble Falls will be the wild card being around 1100 enrollement).
If MF comes in I know UIL would likely put The above 4 together due to close proximity and size.

That would leave 2 to 3 other spots in this district... They could be filled by Gatesville and Brownwood, Taylor and Gatesville, Gatesville and China Spring.
If no Marble Falls I could also see LH, Burnet, Lampasas with Brownood, Gatesville, and China Spring......

If Brownwood stays north, then you they will likely be with Stephenville, Alvarado, and such, that would also be a tuff district for sure.

He means district wise, they are a solid 4A-DI no doubt, but they could be in a district up north with Alvarado and Stephenville or in the Hill Country with LH and Burnet.

Brownwood could also go west w/Abilene Wylie, Big Spring, Snyder et al...they could also go east into a Waco district

If we go West we better start getting our car pool plans together.
If we go hill country we need to get grill guards for the deer.
However if we go East we should pick up some team speed.

Yeah, no more worries about Argyle now, huh? I don't see Argyle's enrollment going down anytime soon. Gilmer-Argyle will have its last possible regional showdown in 2013. Our team will consist of lots of Jrs. ans Srs. next season, but there's no telling what division either team will play in.....if we both make the playoffs. Just hoping for a relatively injury-free season so the boyz can give it their best shot.

No worries on who we play...tougher the better...Gilmer with 631 now will probably be 650+ this fall & 668 for Argyle...looks like a possible.

2013 will be Div 2 for us (Kilgore 964.5, Chapel Hill 961, & Hennason 888)...surely two will make it to the top 4. 2013 will be some good Srs., bunch of Jr.s & Sophs...new D & O lines with possibilty of some Fresh players...most skill guys return...we will see how 7on7 does...heading your way to McKinney Nike Tourn in June & we have a SQT this year in June...maybe get Celina down for it.

I know most on 3A downlow have penciled in Celina and Gilmer for D2 monsters of the midway in the new alignment, but there is another coming. I told you on here a while back about what Tatum had coming with all the pro football players kids. Well they will be freshmen and sophmores this year IN 2013. When they become juniors and seniors, they could be better than the 2005 state champs.

Yes we still have Evans, great Christian man and great coach. I will never say Tatum can or will beat Gilmer. It has been done once in the last 12 years. The group of young men I spoke about will have a great chance. When this sophmore class were freshmen, they beat Gilmer 45 to 6.

I'm not a fan of the new alignment, but I think Ingleside would have benefitted from going division 2 last year as they were one of the Smallest teams competing at division 1, losing to El Campo in the quarter finals. Ingleside had an enrollment of 613 and El Campo had an enrollment of 975, don't get me wrong I would like to see our boys play the best in 3a but change is inevitable and it's coming:1popcorn:

Good to hear about Tatum moving up. They are a very competitive school, and the new alignment should bode well for them. I reckon they will be looking forward to playing at the 3A level.....should be no problem for them. Maybe we'll get some of their posters chiming in on here.
