A&M's biggest Signing Day pickup was Lancaster defensive Daeshon Hall. The four-star pass rusher is ranked as the No. 147 player in the nation by 247Sports. The Aggies missed on defensive end Torrodney Prevot, who chose Oregon over A&M and USC.

oh yeah you forgot to add...they didn't over sign either. I know they have one spot left but a buddy told me two who knows?

I guess that little sliver of Texas that Deloss said the Aggies had is rich in talent.

Kenny Hill was a great pick up too! With Showers leaving, it opens up awesome possibilities if Manziel gets hurt.

I saw Hill play and wasn't really that impressed.

I mean he's good, but I just didn't see a legit D1 starting QB in him. Guess that's why I'm just a dummy and they get paid the big bucks

Many of the newbies have already been on campus (for this semester maybe). Interesting to see if any of them are pulled into duty next year. I remember when Mathews and Joeckel were brand new frosh and they had plenty to learn. It was frustrating at times to see them get burned but look how they turned out. Like weathering a storm.

Man, I can't wait for football season to start up again.

Well the hype for everyone these days is too high.

But he was one hell of a HS QB.

That move to the SEC and the whole "you're gonna play all of your games out of state" and "you're gonna be a bottom feeder along with Kentucky" song and dance the other schools tried to feed recruits really worked, didn't it???

Kenny Hill will probably redshirt. They have a very capable, and I might add, explosive backup in Matt Davis. It would be a big surprise if Hill was active this year.

I think Hill and Davis will compete head to head for QB2. I expect Davis to get on the field, ala Tannehill, during the game as a slot reciever or H back, etc. He's to athletic to hold a clipboard.

Hill is not flashy, but he gets the job done and has a great arm... he can make all the throws... seen him play several times... great addition for the Aggies... true with the redshirt... then he can be the starter for more time...
Prevost is the real deal... that kid can flat out play... that is a miss... but you cannot get every kid...
Hall is the 2nd coming of Roper and the old Wrecking Crew days...

What about Kohl Stewart , he signed as a QB also. Is he fighting an uphill battle to play or do you think he goes the baseball route.

Kohl keeps saying he will be at A&M, but I've seen MLB draft stuff on him that says he could be the top 3 pitchers taken. He's going to get big money.

Sumlin says it was the least stressful signing day in his 20 years of coaching.

Also, that we "locked" LSU out of the state. :)

Great article from the Bleacher report:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1517086-texas-am-football-the-good-and-the-bad-of-national-signing-day#/articles/1517086-texas-am-football-the-good-and-the-bad-of-national-signing-day

"When Kevin Sumlin arrived in Aggieland in December 2011, he recognized that he was going to need more speed on the team and more size in the trenches to compete in the Southeastern Conference.

Sumlin took a calculated risk when he decided not to chase recruits late in the game; he signed a small class in 2012 with only 19 members, knowing that he could fill the leftover spots in the 2012 class with early signees from 2013.

That move paid off in spades when the Ags shocked the nation with an 11-2 inaugural SEC campaign, causing the Aggie program to be more desirable to recruits."

That's a quality perspective in my opinion.

I know one of those is for a player they've had on their radar all season, but he has to raise his grades before he can sign.

It is a widely held belief that he will be a top 15-20 MLB draft pick. He will sign with them most likely. Sumlin has already said that if that happens then they will still have a spot for him in 5-6 years in case he doesn't make it all the way. Said he has no problem with a Weeden situation. Through those statements I would think that A&M signed him to show that they are on his side and to make sure that in 6 years, IF he decides to play football, they will get him back.

The 2 spots are being held for Derrick Griffin, who didn't sign due to grades and the OL from Dallas Jesuit who will enroll at Christmas and count toward this year. The Jesuit kid had knee surgery and is "Greyshirting" because he will not be healed in time for the fall and does not want to waste his Redshirt year on IR. This way he can come in and if he Redshirts he will be healthy enough to practice and get better as a player.

A&M also picked up an all american punter as a walk on.

The kicking game was def a negative for A&M last year. If they can fix that, they will be really tough to beat next year.
