As we come down to the last 2 weeks of the regular season, who's the best overall 3A player out there at any position?

I'd have to say that Jeremy Washington of wharton is one of the best if not the best running back in 3a.

Well if you look at all positions. Pound for pound, Gainsvilles Kicker Jon Lopez is probably the most valuable player in 3A. This kid has several field goals over 50 yards. He kicked a 51 and a 56 yarder against Celina in wet conditions. Teams almost always start on their 20 yard lines after his out of the endzone kickoffs. I watched this kid at practice a few weeks ago and he was kicking 60 yarders like they were chip shots. I also saw him kick a 70 yarder in warm ups, that went right down the middle. Yes, there are a lot of stars in 3A this year, but young Mr. Lopez is truly a stand-out.

If i had to go with one performance, it would be kelvin kirby of Hempstead with 3 touchdowns of 85 yards or more against Sealy.

Sorry i'm going with Jordan Shipley all those other guys I admit are good but Shipley is too athletic just to be called good.

Well i think Diamond hills vincent tucker is up there with the best of the RBs he has over 1000 yards easy and he has played teams like everman and had 135 yds on them so i think he is up there.

Obviously it's tough to say because no one gets to see all the good players that are out there. But I would have to second the nomination of Jordan Shipley from Burnet.

Also, among the great players I've seen so far:

Stephen McGee, QB, Burnet
Billy Pittman, QB, Cameron Yoe
Tank Smith, RB, Marlin
Lashon Thayer, RB, Gatesville

i think that chad smith should at least have a seat at teh table of best all around players. he has had 19 touchdowns has had 946 yards on 148 attempts and averages a carry 6.39 and is in the top 15 in tackles in the area.

How about Johnathan Harrell from Everman?? 23 carries for 364 yards and 6 TD's..13 catches for 257 yards and 4 TD's...3 INT's on defense and one of the most dangerous return men in 3A..the kid does it all

Let me add Matt Peebles from Bridge City to that list. He is already close to the 1,000 yd. mark. Also, Jamey Knight as QB. eek! http://skins.hotbar.com/skins/mailskins/img/Birds_/Birds_Cardinal_walks_prv.gif

Im gonna have to disagree on the Vincent Tucker one but Jon Harrel, Chad Smith, and J.J. Jennings are excellent players.

Hey Matt don't forget that Nick Clark was named to the Heisman watch list. I had to do a double take last week when we handed him the ball. Wow i knew he could run but not like that.

Ricky Mitchell , QB, Jasper

The key to Jasper's explosive offense. The kid can run and throw, not sure about his stats. Huge difference in Jasper's offense when he is in there. If any of you have seen him play you know what I am talking about.

of everyone mentioned, i've only seen the kids from everman, bridge city, la grange (two years ago), wharton and sinton, and i'm going to have to give the edge to adrian alaniz of sinton. washington's an awesome running back and harrell can bring it, but alaniz does more with less talent than the other teams i've seen. he keeps that offense going, and it's a tough act to stop. nobody's been able to do it so far.

Chris Stapp LB from Newton will lay a hat on you.
All-State and district defensive MVP if nothing else.

Add Barbers Hill's, Perry Carrington to that list. He has 1035 yards rushing and 148 in recving yards with two games left. He has proved to be a very solid back this is the 2nd year he has rushed for more than 1000 yrds. He definately deserves a little respect. Also, add James Northcutt and Brian Cummings to that list. They have proven to be very valuable to the Barbers Hill offensive attack and on defense Jared Dolan, linebacker, from Barbers Hill also deserves to be on that list. He is one of the most explosive linebackers I've seen and very aggressive.

Jon Lopez [Place Kicker] leads his team [Gainsville] in scoring with 53 points in 8 games. His closest team mate has 36 points. I would say that makes him an offensive MVP in Gainsville. And a truly amazing individual. Any other kickers out there have 53 points, and three field goals over 50 yards, with a 49 yarder thrown in for good measure :D

Sorry did not mean to post twice on this thread, but I think it is pretty cool to watch a highschool kid kick sixty and seventy yard field goals in warm ups, and have fifty yarder plus kicks in a game. :p

let me add a few cantidates...first David Chaney from Clyde. he is a Charles Woodson like cantidate in that he has 7 interceptions so far, and 5 pass break-ups. teams havent even looked on his side to throw the ball, thus he takes away half the feild. on offense, he averages 25 yards a catch, but i will say he's only scored 1 touchdown. another cantidate, is Randy Allen, who has 20 catches for over 600 yards and 9 touchdowns. he draws double coverages everytime they pass. on defense he has 3 pics.

I think Phillup Daughtery automatically wins this one. The guy is a machine and he's very consistent. I don't think Bridgeport would be much without him. But then, there's a lot of players who you just have to see to appreciate. Most teams have to have one great player to do anything.

I agree all teams have good players and my vote goes out to Jake McDougle of Wills Point this kid is under alot of pressure from a move in from Tyler but, he keeps his cool and he keeps the Tigers rolling.
I feel this kid will go a long way in life no matter what he does he is always thinking of everybody around him thats what makes him a great QB everybody in the stands love him. He has been a great kid growing up around WP in youth sports and into school sports...
He is a leader and the key of the WILLS POINT TIGERS!!!! :) :) :)

Gotta stick with my boy Caleb Campbell from Perryton...All state last year, a bluechip recruit, and the most exciting player in the area...Perryton also has a real good kicker in Kile...He kicked a 54 yarder two weeks ago with 10 sec. left in the first half...Teams almost always start at the twenty...It's pretty cool when he kicks off and it goes through the uprights...How long of a field goal would that be?...Anyway, Campbell's my pic
