Is the Stephenville school district a very small district in terms of square miles?

The population is over 17,000 which is bigger than a lot 4A schools. El Campo is just under 10,000 and is a larger 3A program. Just wondering.

Big thing too is that S'ville just doesn't get a lot of people moving in, but also not a lot moving out. Sville did not get all that smaller to drop to 3A; the cut off numbers just shifted around us. We won the D2 state title in 4A in 1999 with an enrollement of 981. I believe only Everman was smaller. 13 years later we are in 3A with an enrollement of 999. Pretty steady with the same district lines over a long period of times. And Matt is correct, TSU has a significant impact on the population.

Curious, cause I know nothing of that team ya'll lost to this year, Prepa Tech. Were they HS athletes from Mexico? Or, a school kinda like what Deon Sanders forms but from Mexico? I have no clue how they contained your "O". Did you have some starters out?

We were asking that same question after the game. Probably some of it was from reading the press clippings and we had 3 turnovers on our own end of the field which did not help. No starters out to start the year.

Monterrey Tech has several different football teams. High school, and collegiate level. I recall PI played them two years in a row, 2004 and 2005. PI blew them out in 2004, but then in 2005 PI got annihilated by a seemingly MUCH BIGGER team than the previous year. Come to find out they sent the college team!

So that first game Stephenville had, they most likely played against collegiate aged men.

From my research earlier in the season... I agree. I also spoke with a lady that is originally from Monterrey sitting in front of me during that game (SV/MPT) and she confirmed that MPT is an elite prep school. High school and college. Sometimes they combine the teams. Interesting. All I can say is MPT was huge and appeared more mature than HS level. IMO

Surprised the UIL would allow their high schools to play against college kids. Just for legal reasons should an injury happen. Sounds like it's known they play college age kids on that team over the years.

I don't think they are sending college kids but there is nothing to prove otherwise. I will let you use your imagination how the story switches to college kids playing against high schoolers.
