I'd root for anybody versus Refugio... and I hope they run up the score as much as possible.

Might be a good time to use some timeouts and work on some trick plays.:nerd:

EB was the team that looked totally gassed at half. Not sure what happened at the break, but Refugio just started to fall apart once they got behind.

It was one of the strangest games I've ever seen.

For those of you rooting against the Refugio coach you should be ashamed of your damn self. When you root for his failure you are not only rooting for that but the kids failure also. It is ridiculous how immature some of you are regarding his practices. He coaches for the kids...he doesn't coach for you or anyone else.

I bet he did not give a hoot when he was beating other highschool kids by 80 points with trick plays in the fourth quarter. What goes around comes around.

Sounds like a character issue, maybe from the top down.

First half, Refugio nearly got a delay of game call on a FG attempt -- Herring had to call a TO from the sidelines. He went ballistic, running out to the middle of field, screaming at the holder and pointing at the play clock. When he got all the way to the middle, he grabbed the holder by his face mask and pulled, continuing to scream at him. The EB side started booing, and one of the refs grabbed Herring and ushered him back to the sidelines.

Herring is a pr!ck and deserves every thing he gets. And your post is goofy and ignorant.

I don't doubt it. Remember they ran up the score on other teams and one when they had the game won by over 2 tds they called a timeout with 3 seconds left in the game to get another score. I remember at times when Sinton, Calallen, Ingleside, etc (and Refugio before they used to run the scores up) got into playoffs the whole area got behind them and supported them. Not so with Refugio this year even though some local tv stations wanted us too. You can blame the coach for running up the score and not the kids but unfortunately what the coach does reflects on not only himself but the players, fans and community. And not one of them that I know of ever wrote letters to the editor with objections to his tactics. Sorry but this is an area without pity for the team who had none. Ironically the QB of EB grandson of one of Refugio's former coach that helped Refugio get a state championship when his son played for them. It is his daughter's son. Poetic justice this.

If there was any justice in sports, he would have been beaten by 100... Guy is a complete Jackass.

First- coach Jerry Long made some great adjustments at halftime defensively and offensivleyly
A big thing in the first half. Refugio had an IT but only got a FG out of it.
They made at least four first downs on fourth down plays.

Another big thing that EB took the ball to open the third qtr and took it in for A TD.
Slanina then put on a show with four TD's. Back up QB Grant Aschenbeck also had a good night. The junior is the son of the Superintendent.
The EB secondary broke up several in the second half and had three INT's.

EB moved the ball at will.
Their reportedly 13,000 at the game.
EB plays Elysian Fields at 7:30 p,m. Friday at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco.
Also in the first half. Refugio coach Herring grabbed one of his players face mask and twisted it when he wasn't happy with his play.
He also walked to almost mid field to complain about a call and didn't get a flag.
It was a cleanly played game. Refugio did have a personal foul penalty late in the game.
I have to say that there was some great sportsmanship after the game. Refugio QB and Slanina talked after the game as did other players with each other.
It was one of the best games I've seen in a long time

I never understood why a coach would grab a players face mask, but yet you teach the players not to grab a face mask.
I had a coach grab one of my sons face mask once in jr high and I came down out of the stands and went off on him. He never grabbed another players face mask again. If a coach wants to chew some butt, there is a right way to do it with out grabbing a face mask. JMO.

Great win for EB, guess running up the score on weaker opponents did not help Refugio this year.
