In West Texas you could see a Wylie, Brownwood, Andrews, Lubbock Estacado type district.

Forgot about Big Spring, that would a lot of late nights. Brownwood to Lubbock/Andrews are both about 240 miles!

don't you think it will just be trade off? Less travel for non-district and more for district.

At what number is the split between Div. 1 and Div. 2?

I haven't seen the mock yet but I heard it could be around 700.

Kinda sounds like the old district 4-3A back in the 70's, Brownwood, Hirschi, Iowa Park, Burkburnett, Vernon, Graham, Stephenville, lots of miles, but lots of smiles too. The expense of travel was a lot less by comparison, but I think we can swing it!

So is the plan to split 3a like they do 2a or to do it like they do in 4a?

I thought it was to be more like 4a where top 4 teams go with 2 big in d1 and 2 small in d2.

Maybe I missed something.

In 2013 3A will be like 4A in that top two go big, bottom 2 go small...

in 2014 you could see 3A (or what wil be be 4A) be like 2A

Like 2A, thats the way the split will be , or thats what was voted on. 3A Division 1 and 3A Division 2 Atleast you know where you are going before the season starts

Does that mean that the districts will be aligned by Division 1 and Division 2 as well? If so, will there be 2 or 4 teams going to the playoffs from each district?

Exactly, districts will be aligned by Div 1 and Div 2 . The exact model that 2A uses right now.

Hmmm, if the cutoff is @ 700, then I could try to draw up some S. Texas districts.

I'm assuming it would be 4 districts per division per region?

In theory the 5 team districts, you could have a 1-9 team make the playoffs next year. I am all for participation, but this is really watering down the playoffs and just cost schools additional money so a 10-0 / 9-1 team and go beat the snot out of a 2-8 / 3-7 team in the first/second round of the playoffs. I think I would rather have my son work harder the next year to be that 9-1 team than be satisfied with a 3-7 record and his team making the playoffs. If was much simpler when one/two teams from each district made it to the playoffs.

Our young men/women need to realize that there are winners and looser and everything is not just handed to you, you have to work for it!

Matthew328

is getting beat 60-0 in the playoffs really having something handed to you other than an arse kicking?

I'm not completely familiar with enrollment numbers for R4 except for the RGV area teams, but I can already pretty much figure out a couple of districts.

16-3A Div. 1 - Hidalgo, La Feria, Zapata, RGC La Grulla, Kingsville

16-3A Div. 2 - Port Isabel, Rio Hondo, Progreso, Lyford, Raymondville

That doesn't make sense. The D2 district I made includes all schools with enrollment BELOW 700 students.

Robstown has well over 900 students.
