He only coached at A&M for three years and was moved to AD in 1964. His record was 6 wins 23 loses and 1 tie. But to say he was a loser is misleading and it has fallen upon me a UT Longhorn fan to defend him and put something on somewhere for the record and this is it. He was from Dallas and played on the Aggies' football team in 1942 but left for Army (U.S. Military Academy) where he played TE for them on 2 NC teams from 1944-1946 and had only a tie with Notre Dame being the only blemish on the record in 1946. He left the military in 1948 due to a family emergency and played minor league pro football and was an assistant coach at several schools the most notable being Florida from 1952-59. He became head coach at Wichita from 1960-61 where he had success with a 16-5 record including a bowl game. He left in 1962 to coach at A&M and had told his team that it was the only job he would leave for.
Even though he didn't have success at A&M he accomplished a lot. One has to remember he came to the school while in the Southwest Conference and in the 60s was the time when it was in the Coach Royal at Texas and Coach Broyles at Arkansas when both of these schools got the best talent in the State. But he had his team ready for Texas in his first two years while Texas was at its' best. In fact the Aggies led Texas going into the fourth quarter in both 1962-63 games. When Texas was No. 1 in 1963 he had the 1939 Aggie National Championship room with his players in brilliant move and the Aggies were fired up and almost pulled a big upset. His 1963 recruiting class were seniors in 1967 which was the team that won the Conference and beat Alabama in the Cotton Bowl. He served as athletic director for one year starting in 1964 then he moved to Arkansas where he went into the real estate business. He passed away in 2011 just a few days before his 78th birthday.

Though he didn' t have the won loss record that most Aggies wanted he did start the momentum going for 1967 and his teams played two great games against highly ranked Texas teams.
