Jack Taylor scores 138 points for Grinnell in NCAA DIII basketball game

GRINNELL, Iowa (AP) - Jack Taylor scored 138 points to shatter the NCAA scoring record in Division III Grinnell's 179-104 victory over Faith Baptist Bible on Tuesday night.

Taylor made 27 of 71 3-point attempts, was 52 of 108 overall from the field and added seven free throws on 10 attempts in 36 minutes.

Rio Grande's Bevo Francis held the NCAA scoring record with 113 points against Hillsdale in 1954. In 1953, Francis had 116 against Ashland Junior College.

The previous Grinnell record was 89 by Griffin Lentsch last Nov. 19 against Principia.

That's what I thought! I saw this on Sportscenter this morning and in the interview the kids said he was really feeling it. I thought "Really"? The kid shot less than 50% from the field overall. I don't think that qualifies as "Feeling it". The amazing thing to me is how the opponent wasn't able to stop him. He didn't impress me as a super athlete that couldn't be guarded. Maybe the other team also wanted to be part of the record!

27 of 71 is actually 38% from 3 land! That's not too shabby. But still not something to impress people with...............

The 2 schools wanted exposure.
