when i tell people that i might be a coach they just laugh because they say it has long hours with very little pay. that is not the point for me, i just dont think i could only be around the game for 3 hrs on friday nights. just my opinion

I'm deciding on either being a youth minister or a coach. I really want to work with 7th grade and up and either career will enable me to be a positive influence on kids.

this is my first year as a coach and it is great...for those of yall who have a chance you might want to volunteer with a local high school or junior high in order to see if it is what you really want to do. you can see how many hours it is and get your feet wet. there is so much that you will learn in your first couple of years...it makes it seem like a different ball game...it is a lot funner now.

I agree with raider red..I grew up in South Texas and joined the marines right out of high school. I stayed in So Cal and I attended school here at Cal State San Marcos. I volunteered all of my spare time helping a local Junior High coach out. I graduated last year and now I am the assistant coach of Helix High in La Mesa, CA. The JH coach helped me get a job and I run the defense for one of the top schools in San Diego. Although, I want to come back and coach real football back in Texas! Kids here have little heart. Good luck to all future coaches
