Lorena vs Fairfield - Round 2

A rematch of last years playoff game, when Lorena defeated the then 10-0 Eagles. Lorena coming off a come from behind win to defeat Rockdale, scoring 28 unanswered points in the second half. Game will be on Friday in Bryan at 7:00pm. What is known about this years Fairfield team?

Fairfield looks pretty good from their record. Maybe a slight edge to Fairfield. Looks like both teams can score a lot.

Haven't seen Fairfield in years, but the qb for Lorena is dang good , really big kid who runs hard. No offense to Fairfield but I'm taking the leopards in this one. Good luck and it should be a good game.

Here is what I do like, Lorena QB has more passing yds (1457) than FF QB (1232) AND LL QB has more rushing yards (1634) than FF leading rusher (1280).
LL top receiver (624) more than FF top receiver (566).
Also, our wideouts are above average in size, at about 195 lbs each; both block well on the outside with good hands.
LL has a pair of interchangeable running backs, combining for over 1000 yds. One is more elusive, while the other strong with breakout speed. Both block exceptionally well. Fro mthe stats, it appears FF has a pair of producing running backs.
Pound for pound up front it looks like LL O-line has the edge, but FF has nice sized linebacker in #40.
If Fairfield is laughing it up on the field again this year as we come out of the locker room to warm up, it could fire us up again this year.
I haven't seen any film on FF, so just don't know much about their offense.

Navasota played both Fairfield and Rockdale this year--last weeks opponent for Lorena and this weeks. Here is my take:

If Fairfield gets the running game going, and it is capable, they can give you big problems. The Fairfield passing game is not as good as Rockdale, but they are stronger in the running game. Defensively, Fairfield is a stronger run defense team than Rockdale, especially in the middle. Both teams have good athletes in the area of pass coverage.

To beat Fairfield, you will have to establish the line of scrimmage and attack the corners and work the intermediate passing lanes.

As far as overall team strength, I think Fairfield is a little stronger than Rockdale because of overall size. However, Rockdale always plays hard on every play and in the Navasota game we saw Fairfield give up on some plays.
