KINGSVILLE (6-4) VS. HIDALGO (7-3)

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Sams Stadium, Brownsville

Last week: Kingsville 42, RGC Grulla 7; Hidalgo 35, La Feria 28 (OT)

Next week: Winner plays Ingleside (7-3) or Carrizo Springs (4-6)

The scoop: These teams have similar quarterbacks in terms of ability. Kingsville just happens to have two, while Hidalgo has one. The Brahmas' dual-quarterback scheme has driven Kingsville to the postseason, but the team unleashed back David Cavazos (167 of his 694 rushing yards last week) just in case teams get too caught up with QBs John Houston (890 rushing yards, 793 passing) and Mason Copeland (922 rushing yards, 426 passing). The Pirates, allowing less than 15 points a game, battled a series of devastating injuries early in the season, but won three games in a row to make the postseason. Freshman QB Shea Patterson threw for 583 yards and six touchdowns two weeks ago against Progresso. Last week, to put Hidalgo in the 3A Division I playoffs, he threw for 134 yards and four scores and ran for 68 yards and the winning touchdown in overtime. Patterson will be an interesting test for a Kingsville defense that has allowed at least 28 points in six games this season, but swept District 31-3A opposition.

Kingsville 58 Hidalgo 41 final

Pretty much like i figured, Kingsville defense would give up some points but their offense would roll through Hidalgo.

Now they face a team that can light it up and play some defense!
