Devine will be a 3 point underdog in this one. I think It will be the team who makes the least amount of mistakes. Devine's O can move the ball but struggle at times. I'm more worried about our D more then anything else. Good luck to both teams but hoping for a Warhorse win.

Devine 26
Orange Grove 21

How is OG's defense against the run? Because that is about 98% of what Devine will do Friday night.

RB Fraga will be the key for Devine...Owls contained his long runs but,he still managed 135 yds on us..Orange Grove, really don't know too much about them..Fraga has around 2500 plus rushing yards..Just makes me wonder why there was'nt so much publicity on this RB as there was last year, with Sadler...Hmmm.

How is OG's defense against the run? Because that is about 98% of what Devine will do Friday night.Orange Grove shut down Sinton qb running, held him to 55 yds on 17 carries and no tds but the main weapon is rb Keith Garcia he scored twice on 50 yds runs and 8 yd td run and a 34 yd td reception. He rushed for 147 yds on 12 carries which is close to his 13.2 yds per carry avg for the season. Sinton qb did throw 3 tds also, 2 to wr Derek Shedd. Sinton used the long ball to stretch their defense which plays closer to the line of scrimmage.

Devine might have to show some passes to soften up their defense if its going to be mostly run.

Jordan has been in SA paper quite a few times and is leading the area in rushing yards. Sadler did get a little more face time due to the (Ken Hall) scoring record.

And, rightfully so. Amazing records Sadler broke. Loved watching him in Sinton vs. Wharton last year.

They did a good job against Ingleside containing the run but Ingleside is a spread team, and they run out of the spread also Ingleside did not use a power running game, they ran with a small speedy back and OG did a great job containing him....Ingleside did a poor job in the play calling in that game, it was obvious their plan was to get the ball to their running back as they fed it to him all night and Ingleside did little to stretch the field. OG is quick and did a good job swarming to the ball and shutting down Ingleside's running game.

Sounds like a good matchup. Didn't OG make it two rounds in the playoffs last year? If so, they have some experience, too.

This game could go either way. Devine's power game is very hard to stop. Basically seven offensive lineman ( they use two huge tight ends) blocking on every play for a speedy back. OG must be very good to be 9-1. Wish there was a webcast or radio broadcast. Hopefully someone will be at the game providing updates.

ORANGE GROVE (9-1) VS. DEVINE (9-1)

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Frank Mata Stadium, San Antonio

Last week: Orange Grove 34, Ingleside 26; Devine 14, Hondo 10

Next week: Winner plays La Feria (3-6) or Raymondville (5-5)

The scoop: This is one of the most intriguing bi-district matchups, with Ruben Lopez running OG's high-octane offense at quarterback against a Devine team that runs, runs and runs some more with back Jordan Fraga, who has 2,540 rushing yards. Lopez (1,277 rushing yards, 1,386 passing, 34 TD, 4 INT) fronts an offense that has not scored fewer than 27 points in a game this season and has plenty of options — RB Rickey Martinez (117-845, 13 TD), intermediate route runners Cameron Noble (25-278, 1 TD) and Matthew Priddy (37-435, 3 TD) and breakaway threat Rayce Gatlin (14-317, 4 TD in five games) at receiver. The Bulldogs must clean up the special teams issues that led to three Ingleside touchdowns last week. There's little room for error against the Warhorses, who allow 14 points a game and control the clock. Last season, Devine had Joseph Sadler rush for 3,887 yards in 14 games. Fraga has continued the tradition, pretty much on Sadler's pace, as the leading rusher in the state. It's the fifth time in 10 years a back has passed 2,000 yards for the Warhorses, though others can carry the load as Devine is just shy of 4,000 team rushing yards. So the OG front seven — including Julian Salas, Dillon Herschap and Gunner New — know what is coming. The issue, as nine teams have seen this season, is stopping it.
