I'm old enough to have watched him coach/wishbone, great coach and exciting times for football in the state of Texas. RIP.

I attended that last game in Austin that day, and watched as the players carried him off the field. I was only 20 at the time and didn't realize what I had just witnessed firsthand. He's a real Texas icon. Thank you Darrell K Royal for everything you gave and have meant to football in Texas.
