It works like the NCAA....GR started lower, climbed, but only to the level allowable. The others above them have been ahead of them since early in the year. They didn't jump GR over those winners and shouldn't, IMO. GR just has to keep winning at this point to gain favor.

So what exactly are you trying to say....that just because GR is in the same region that Stephenville is and played them(a loss), that alone gives GR more respectibility than some of these other TOP TEN teams that did not have that same opportunity??? Or that GR somehow should be vaulting over these top ten teams for beating Alvarado(7-3) and losing to Stephenville??? I'm not saying GR does not deserve consideration for a top ten ranking, and in a normal 3A year they would probably be there. But this season is different. You have several preseason 4A dropdowns that are either undefeated or lost only once to a good team. And Carthage is a favorite in DI, losing to two 4A's. Perhaps DOD Gilmer is the one slot that is debateable.....highly debateable. Shallowater has beat every team on their schedule and has a pedigree. Tell ya what....win the DII regional title first, and then everyone, and I mean even myself included, will be happy to put GR in the Top Ten....maybe even the Top Five.

And Alabama, Georgia and LSU are likely better than all of the undefeated teams ranked ahead of them. That's how the system works.

You said "likely". GR is "likely" better than some of the teams ranked ahead of them too, I presume. But until that point comes to prove it on the field against the competition in a playoff format, it's all conjecture. That's why we have playoffs, and why the NCAA has a messed up nonplayoff BCS and non-BCS bowl system, among other reasons. Comparing our playoff system to the NCAA Bowl Series is like comparing apples to oranges, and you know it. Why else do you think everyone is clamoring for a college football playoff system. I think our system here in Texas for high school football is a good one. Not perfection, but at least we crown a champion thru a playoff system. So what's your argument....that GR is not getting a fair shake??? Hogwash. The season's not over yet. GR will get their chance. Our playoff system says so.
