Carrizo Springs (4-6) vs. Ingleside (7-3) - BiDistrict-D1 Region IV

Ingleside really needs to eliminate the mistakes and finish drives in order to make a good run in the playoffs. If they can do that they can be very competitive. I don't know much about Carrizo Springs, but it looks like Ingleside could be the favorite in this matchup.

It was very frustrating to see Ingleside get in OG's red zone three times ( 2 times on the goal line) and not score. The Mustangs offensive line needs to step up and get the job done. If not then the playoff season will be short lived. I think coach Hesseltine will make the necessary adjustments. Ingleside by 2 TDs.

Ingleside has had issues the last few years on short and goal, we were stopped by Robstown a couple of years ago I believe 8 try's inside the 5 and couldn't punch it in, I thought we might do better this year when he used Kyle Hernandez and Christian Britt early in the year.....but Kyle got hurt and and is out for the season, why he didn't use Britt on short yardage and thought Marquis could punch on in is beyond me.... I'm sorry but I would have atleast tried a QB keep considering everyone was keying on Marquis, but again it's easy being an arm chair QB on Monday morning im sure he had his reasons.:twitch:

They have a good running back in Freddie Longoria, some size up front. They played tough early in the game against us, but seemed to wear out as game went on.
Stop Longoria and it will be a win.

Yeah that really hurts us with him (Hernandez) out for the season, not only as an outstanding LB but as a short yardage bruising back.... Burlesson is doing an awesome job since he moved up from JV but Jasso has primarily been Hernandez replacement and he's doing an awesome job, man are we stacked at LB for the next few seasons.....The big plus is we get JD back this game, I tell you what this is the smallest kid on the team and he plays like the biggest, he has to play the most minutes I mean he's out there the whole game offense and defense....I'm not saying he's the best player cause he is not but he sure does have a nose for that ball on defense....he's also a pretty good little reciever.:1popcorn:

Run, run, run. Not much passing to speak of. The quarterback can move the ball also with his feet. CS beat winless Crystal City by one and 3-7 Pearsall 16-0. The Wildcats did beat Hondo though pretty convincingly. From what I hear though, Hondo's QB was knocked out of the game.

They beat Hondo 28-13..Owls 1st team QB did not play cause ,he hurt his ankle vs Somerset..Still,no excuse..Carrizo came to play and Hondo was still celebrating big win over Somerset.Owls did not take Carrizo seriously and now Owls are playing basketball...Not fun being at home on friday nights...

I hope the coaches don't put it on cruise control the second half if they are ahead by 2 or 3 tds. Ingleside needs those redzone situations because they haven't done well when needing points in close games.

Use the bigger guys to get you a couple of yards. I have always liked that approach as well especially in goal line situation where you need 1 or 2 yards to get in. I hope that in those situations going forward that is taken into consideration.

Ingleside needs to stay focused and play the game they are capable of playing and take their opponent like they are the toughest team they have faced to this point cause I promise you Carrizo Springs is not gonna show up and lay down.... Ingleside has surpass the expectations of many of their critic as they were picked to finished 3rd in some pre-season poles, they weren't expected to do much since the loss of the McHuge twins and all the seniors to graduation.

I'm sure coach will drill it in their heads about being ready for this game and make sure they don't look at their record, after losing to wharton last year when Wharton walked into the playoffs with a 4-6 record, Ingleside jumped on the Tigers early with a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, and watched Tigers just keep coming back all game long, Ingleside never trailed until the closing minutes of the game when Wharton tied it up and went for 2 and the win....I like Ingleside's chances in this game, Ingleside strongest asset is their ability to stop the run, Ingleside offense is suspect at time and drives fizzle out, but their defense is ahead of their offense....but when Ingleside is clicking on all cylinder, they look awesome and unstoppable and are really fun to watch.:1popcorn:

The scoop: While Ingleside is up and down the field on offense, Carrizo Springs' best bet is to take to the ground as long as possible. The Wildcats lean on running back Freddie Longoria (214-1,303, 12 TD) while the team has passed for 880 yards and 16 interceptions. That is dangerous against the Mustangs defense which, while it didn't have its best showing against Orange Grove last week, has skilled defensive backs in Terrance Robinson and Jordan Stone, who combined for five interceptions over the past two weeks. Ingleside will strike that balance in the 3A Division I playoffs that it has flashed this season on offense, with RB Marquis Barrolle (178-1,156, 8TD), QB Tristen Barajas (2,111 passing yards, 23 TD, 8 INT) and WR Skyler Shugart (36-834, 12 TD) delivering matchup problems for many opponents. But if the Mustangs have the busted assignments and missed blocks that, coach Graig Hesseltine said, plagued the team last week, it could be problematic, even against CS, which has surrendered 30 points a game on average.

They had a decent amount of fans that stayed till the very end. Ingleside played very well and the backups and JV players got some time in. Great game overall by the Mustangs. I think the defense may have held CS to less than 100 total yards most of which were from Kick returns.
