I think what actually happened was that due to the number of playoffs game a stadium halfway between the schools was not available and Lytle realized that with our stadium with all the fantastic updates and more parking graciously agreed to come to Sinton.

You have to remember that Lytle is a dangerous team. Remember about 12 years ago they beat us in Girl's Basketball in the playoffs. Scary times indeed.

If Sinton plays like they have since the Ingleside game I dont see anyone testing them until the 3rd round! However the Pirates have had good teams get upset before in the 1st round, i.e. Hondo in 05. As long as Allen keeps them focused they should roll easily.Defense still needs to tackle better despite the back to back shut outs. The potential is there to step it up in the playoffs and if they do i like their chances during the playoffs.

Season ticket holders can get tickets tomorrow. Just their seats and unlimited gen adm. Parents of players, band, flag girls, etc. on Wednesday, general public on Thursday. School reach made a call tonight... Check out Sinton Boosters on Facebook. Sorry. My phone won't let me copy and paste it.

On Wednesday parents of all participants can purchase reserved seating and if you are a season ticket holder AND a parent you may purchase an additional 5 reserved seats.

Also we (booster club) will be up at the school today selling playoff shirts from 6-7pm. There is a girls basketball game so we will try and set up at the tennis courts and/or the south gym door. Shirts are $10 494

Tomorrow only parents of participants can purchase tickets and they will have access to any reserved seats that were NOT picked up. You could try and go first thing, but I'm pretty sure you will be SOL. :eek:

It bums me out that there are no Lytle folks to talk to about this game. :(

They seem to be a run first team which has been our weak spot on D. We will need some people to step up and play BIG in this game and not expect to win just by showing up!

Represent D30!(jr)John Gabriel Guzman is a 3 yr starter as he alternates with K. Garcia. Guzman is more of a power runner and usually used in short yardage. Fr running back saw alot of action last week with Guzman out for the Robstown game non injury and then Garcia going down early in the game. Fr Colton Cohea scored twice with 9 rushes for 65 yds. Garcia got his break 4 yrs ago in the playoffs looks like Cohea might get some playing time.

Sinton should be fine for this game hopefully Garcia gets well soon.

All kidding aside, and this is no sour grapes from Hondo not making the playoffs, Lytle stands about as much chance at winning this game as a snowball in South Texas.

My son has played football with Colton Cohes since 3rd or 4th grade. He has ALWAYS been a top notch athlete. We wondered if he was just hitting his stride a little earlier than the other kids, but that hasn't been the case. His talent level increases with every passing year. He was our QB 6-8th grade, and he led our boys to back -back undefeated district titles. We were sad to lose him from the Freshman team, but so proud that he was taken up to varsity, where he belongs! He's gonna be a beast by his Senior year. :cheerl:

I think Sinton looses a lot of speed with kieth sidelined. Hopefully John Gabriel and Colton step right in for the 1 - 2 punch. Also watch out for #4 from Sinton. I heard he may get some playing time.

Yes I am talking about Acosta... Just saw glimps of him during a scrimmage but he sure looked fast. Just would like to see what he has. And I haven't forgotten any of the other outstanding athletes on the Sinton team.Yea he look good at qb during the scrimmages, he did have a great season last year as Taft qb. Heard hes going to play some running back and wide receiver and yes has some good speed.

Don't be fooled. This is going to be a hard fought game especially since Keith is out but I still say Sinton will win a close one. Lytle will be tough. They are a proud and just and determined people with a can do spirit. I know. I have worked in Lytle a few times.

Best wishes to both. I see Sinton winning and moving on here. They struggled early in year, and with the athletes (size too) I seen them have, what a time to get things in order for the Pirates.

Kinda like us, we have yet played our best, complete game, but--last week was close vs. Giddings, other than too many penalty's.

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Sinton

Last week: Lytle 30, Crystal City 14; Sinton 49, Robstown 0

Next week: Winner plays Lyford (5-5) or Port Isabel (7-3)

The scoop: Both teams — nicknamed the Pirates — have big-time dual-purpose quarterbacks, but Sinton's Tyler Handson has rolled up more yardage than Lytle's Joseph Santos and probably has more weapons to use on offense. Handson (1,112 rushing yards, 1,562 passing, 33 total TDs, 1 INT) seems to value every possession in an offense in which players make the most of each touch, including back Keith Garcia (13 yards per carry; 11 TDs in 65 carries) and WR Derek Shedd (34-649, 12 TD). Juan Guerrero (3 INT) needs a huge game for a Lytle defense allowing 29 points a game. Santos (883 rushing, 749 passing, 19 total TD, 8 INT) definitely sets the tone for Lytle's offense and pushed the team into the 3A Division II playoffs. He has a couple of 400-yard runners — Guerrero included — as options, but the team doesn't seem to have the breakaway threats that reside in Sinton. Even tougher for Lytle: Sinton seems to be playing its best defense over the past four games, allowing little more than 10 points a game over that span and reinforced by the return of Tracker Conn.

:eek: It is good to have confidence and that is what I thought of when watching, but the outcome is obviously opposite of what they felt.
