So is all this talk about how Stephenville would never schedule a playoff game at Gordon Wood Stadium true or are y'all just kidding? I noticed several different people have said that, including those not from Sville. What's the deal with being so Anti GWS? I'm honestly curious.

Also a couple of people posted that Brownwood would have no problem playing in Sville but only because SISD doesn't own the stadium. I'm fascinated by all this love these two towns have for each other!! ;)

It may be because the jackets didnt have a very good record at GWS. in the past!

Also, almost every single Brownwood poster I've ever spoken to says Stephenville folks consider it a bigger rivalry than the Brownwood folks.
I just wonder if the Yellowjacket fans say the same thing about the Brownwood peeps.

I dunno if its because the stadium is Brownwood or what, but the staff at Stephenville doesn't like GWS...why they dont like it....I got no idea...is it something about the stadium they dont like, or if its not the stadium itself but the fact the stadium is Brownwood's....all I know is Stephenville doesn't want to play there and won't play there unless they lose some flips

Nice venue if you're not hung up on the idiotic hooplah. But then again, people get quirky about stuff like that. ;)

If SV/AW game happens, Brownwood is the best geographic location by far. Unless Mineral Wells could be an option. There is nothing between SV and AW other than BW.

My guess is round 3 will still have plenty of 5A and 4A games ahead of a 3A game at Cowboys...but if there was a 3A game Stephenville-Wylie would be pretty good...plus on the stadium calendar Sat Dec. 1 is listed as a "Rally Day" for Cowboys Stadium so I'm not sure it even available Rd 3 except for Friday

http://stadium.dallascowboys.com/rallyday/

I could see Aledo as a possibility, maybe Pennington Field or Birdville.....gonna need a decent sized stadium both schools have sizeable fan bases

I think it is plenty big enough. The only game I can think of that we would draw more than 3500 fans that doesn't involve Bwood or Aledo would be the SC game. Plus they have endzone room to increase the capacity.

I have no idea why the staff doesn't want to play at Bwood, but what ever reason is good enough for me.

I like Shotwell as well. It is a great atmosphere, plenty of parking and eating spaces. It really doesn't matter where we kick Wylie's @$$ at to me.

Shotwell was one of the loudest stadiums I ever played in during my high school career.

I played right tackle and while the cans were shaking and the Abilene High band playing I could not hear the snap count. That is the only stadium I ever played in where I couldn't hear the snap count and had to watch the ball.

i liked that a lot last year. Birdville is 5 minutes from my place of employment. HEB (where we played Henderson) is 2 minutes, and The deathstar is only 25 minutes from my home. Except for going to San Angelo last year, the travel was great for Alvarado.

I honestly think Stephenville will draw some good playoff crowds...especially a third round game against an unbeaten team..Wylie will bring 4k on you easily in the playoffs...seen them fill up Birdville a couple of times.....IMO they'd have to bring in temp bleachers at Mineral Wells or Brownwood

Brownwood seats 800 more then Mineral Wells and has equal seating between the home and visitors.

Plus those long wheel chair ramps down each side can hold a lot of standing people. I know they have brought portable bleachers in before.

Stephenville and Brownwood had matchups in the late 90s that drew 12,000-13,000. Tarleton Memorial seats 7,000 and Gordon Wood seats 7,800.... But we all got in. There was police lines in the endzones and portable bleachers sometimes, but thats what made the atmosphere even better.

The argument about the lack of size isnt whats keeping Sville from playing in Bwood. Last year Sville WANTED to play their fourth round game against Aledo in Midlothian which seats a whopping 200 more then Brownwood.

I wonder if they considered San Angelo? San Angelo Stadium > Wichita Falls Stadium
I bet they wont go there either since theyd have to drive thru Brownwood to get there.
