WOS, you got it right. Both divisions in Region 3 are tough. I think that if any team, no matter how good or where they are ranked, has an off night or thinks they have a gimme opponent, they will go home early.

No one here thinks you are feeling lucky about Navasota going Div 2. We feel alot like you guys, that matchup, if it would have happened, would have been a great game in my opinion. I would have predicted that the winner would have been the team that made the fewest mistakes (turnovers and penalties). Navasota wishes you guys luck. Just remember, there are some really good teams still in the hunt from Region 3. Don't make the mistake of underestimating Carthage and Kilgore because both are damned good. I have not seen Kilgore play, but I know Carthage and know that their season is just starting. Every year they shift into another gear when the playoffs start and if they make it to you guys, they will be there ready to win.

WO-S would LOVE to play LaMarque again since we haven't gone against them since the showdown in the 4A Quarterfinals in 2000 where WO-S won 10-6 and went on to the State Finals. I'm not saying it's gonna happen since that's 4 weeks away but just waxing nostalgic. Knowing us we'll get upset round 1 (post this on the wall coaches if you have a problem with it ;p ). The WO-S defense this year is constantly being compared to the 2000 defense which was considered our best ever to date. ALSO, would love to see my old friends from LaMarque since we've missed you since dropping to 3A. LaMarque and WOS had some amazing matchups in the 1990's and 2000 with LaMarque holding the edge 3-1.

Well, I believe the Panthers are still "alive"..but that's about it.

Because Burnet beat Llano tonight..and Burnet beat LH last week..it seems to reason that Liberty Hill (2-2 in 8-3A) HAS to beat Gatesville (4-0) next week and have Burnet (2-2) lose to Lampasas (0-4). ANY OTHER scenario gives the Bulldogs the 3rd and final playoff spot out of 8-3A.

Speaking of shutouts, Navasota recorded their 3rd straight and 4th overall shutout of the season. One more game to go...This is saying alot for a program that has been known for its offense.

Good luck to the Rattlers.. people are scared of you this year. Only advice I can give you is never let your guard down. We've never met head-to-head, and I know I'd be a little scared if that actually happened but I know WO-S would come to play and we've had a history of knocking off #1 teams in the recent past (Hello Giddings :)) but we've had a larger share of being knocked off by others lol. D2 Region III will be a suspensful playoff run this year.

I was at the Henderson / Kilgore game...I saw Kilgore play Mount Pleasant (4A) earlier in the year, and was really impressed. Not so much tonight. It was a defensive type ball game, and I do think both defenses are talented, but the play calling was suspect. I'm not one to second guess coaches decisions on play calling, and I know coaches game plan, but to run the ball into 9 man fronts all night? I felt that Kilgore could have taken more shots early to put the Henderson defense on its heels. Maybe just an off night for Kilgore's O, or maybe a very good Henderson D that is getting better every week. Either way I feel like Kilgore better game plan a little better in the 3rd season, or it might be short. I will say this for the Kilgore Bulldogs...They look the part, as far as passing the eye test. They have some good looking athletes.

I think you guys are giving LaVega a little too much credit. I don't think they are quite the LV team you have seen in the past. We and Gatesville both took them. They are not very big on the line on either side of the ball.
