Speaking of shutouts, Navasota recorded their 3rd straight and 4th overall shutout of the season. One more game to go...This is saying alot for a program that has been known for its offense.

Congrats to WO-S! Shutting out a team is not easy no matter who the opponent is.

I am a Navasota supporter and fan, but honestly I am not that impressed that you shut out Caldwell.

You have to look at the whole picture... Against Rockdale, Navasota gave up 4 first downs and 114 yards..

Madisonville had 81 total yards... Caldwell had 61 total yards and a few first downs.... Yes, none of these teams are powerhouse teams and are down this year, but, we didn't place them in our district.

Navasota is giving up 4.7 points a game in 9 games. Including holding Coldspring to 8 points.. Points that were scored very early in the game...Then, total domination by Navasota. The defense is finally catching up with the offense which will and can spell trouble for their opponents. As I stated before, Navasota hasn't been exactly known for their defense. So, CONGRATS to the Rattlers for playing lights out defense all season.

I think Carthage is the team to beat in the bottom half of the bracket. I do not see La Vega keeping that game very close. I am not sure what to make of Kilgore.

Sounds completely plausible to me. Besides, I'm glad the Rattlers have landed in DII. If by chance Argyle were to win the Region 2 and Semi against the Region 1 DII champ, it is possible they would be looking smack dab in the face at this Navasota team to meet in Jerryworld for all the marbles. And what a matchup that would make....two quality teams going at it with Argyle's defense trying shut down the high-octane Rattler offense, while Navasota's D would have to contain Argyle's high scoring offense. Just wishful thinking.....but it could happen.

WO-S would LOVE to play LaMarque again since we haven't gone against them since the showdown in the 4A Quarterfinals in 2000 where WO-S won 10-6 and went on to the State Finals. I'm not saying it's gonna happen since that's 4 weeks away but just waxing nostalgic. Knowing us we'll get upset round 1 (post this on the wall coaches if you have a problem with it ;p ). The WO-S defense this year is constantly being compared to the 2000 defense which was considered our best ever to date. ALSO, would love to see my old friends from LaMarque since we've missed you since dropping to 3A. LaMarque and WOS had some amazing matchups in the 1990's and 2000 with LaMarque holding the edge 3-1.

I am excited for you and WO-S. Glad to see you guys are a force to be reckoned with. There is a chance we can meet again, though its obvious we have a ways to go to get there, and a ways to go to be anywhere close to the 2005/2011 level. But...I have seen it before, never doubt Sir Nelms. We have enough talent to get to the Semi's, and from there anything can happen...if only we pull it all together. Good luck!

I have seen Carthage...they have their moments & will probably make a good stab but not past Region final. I was saying that Kilgore was over rated...they do not play like a Top Ten Rated Team.
No envy..we have our own swag...right now, we are 56-1 in district play since 2001...the one was from the Dawgs...thanks for the good luck...we will need it...we do enjoy playing the game.
