Is there anyone out there that can provide some insight to the question : how is it determined who goes D1 or D2? Is it determined by enrollement or something else? Just wondering.

Largest enrollment of the three playoff representatives goes Div 1

It can get crazy too because the D1 rep from one district can actually be smaller than the D2 rep from another district. Reclassifying AAA into Division I and Division II would take care of some of that discrepancy.

The superintendents are about to vote to do just that. Gilmer has been in both divisions over the years. D1 is the easier one. Only five games to win. Plus, oftentimes, the largest enrollment team is not even the district champion. In '09, the only outright district champion Gilmer had to play was Cuero.

People who think they are beaten just because they are playing a school with a larger enrollment don't have the mentality to make a run to begin with. Just IMO, of course.

Absolutely the way it has happened in D1 some of the years. It happened to us our 2nd year in 2A. We went D1, Celina was in our district as the winner and went D2. We both were in the SC games that year....we lost to Newton and Celina won the D2 in 2A that year before the split of the divisions. It was like 3A is now back then.
