View Full Version : Headsets Malfunctioning...Officials Authority...

Was at a game last night where the visiting teams headsets stopped working and the official forced the home team to stop using their headsets and had all of the coaches leave the press box. I know at one point this was a NCAA rule but was under the impression that it was a rule because most teams used Stadium supplied headsets...so if one stopped working, to be fair, they made the other team turn theirs off. Is this really enforceable at the HS level where the HS's provide and maintain their own headsets....?

just got off phone with dallas chapter...says they (home team) should not have been asked to turn theirs off. Crappy deal...

I don't guess that crew will get favorable grades from the visitors.

Visitors will grade them well cause it was THEIR headsets that failed and the officials had the HOME team turn theirs off....

Big error indeed We have discussed this until we are blue in the face and apparently some guys still do not get the message Officials do not have any jurisdiction over those communication systems, as you learned

and to make things worse...this all went down at half time and in the second half the officials would not allow the press box coaches to even enter the press box!

ka, I have been telling our HS coach for years that my headset in the stands has never worked because he hasn't heard a dang thing I have said or called....:D

Coach said that if I did--he'd have the ref toss me.....
