At the end of the 1st quarter Raymondville leads 14-13. Sinton scored right away & my source tells me Raymondville seemed to score their 2 touchdowns in mere seconds!! eek!

Next update at half!! GO PIRATES!!!

Woo Hoo! sounds like it may turn into a barn-burner! Also sounds like we may have given up a turnover.

I bet Raymondville's QB Tommy Wolfe is giving Sinton all sorts of hell.

Pirates open the 3rd with an eek! 80 yard kick off return for a touchdown. I believe they said it was Threadgill. Promising start to the 2nd half.

Now if only the D will stiffen up.Raymondville had a bunch of kids back from last year and their given Sinton fits it seems.

sinton66
08-29-2003, 09:32 PM
We sure coulda used Threadgill last year. Our D woulda been a nice step better.

I left at halftime 21-21. Sinton came out strong and looked like they would dominate with 2 straight scores. After a long raymondville td pass Sinton threw an interception for a td and fumbled. Sinton looked good early but then began to make mistakes allowing Raymondville to gain confidence.

It's only a scrimmage any way but i still like to rib em about it.

sinton66
08-29-2003, 09:53 PM
Yeah, turbo, that's just about how I had it pictured. Pretty sure Sinton will get that stuff under control. We started off like that last year too.

SinFan75, I actually almost felt sorry for him!

66, yep its early in the season. Raymondville has some big kids. #11 for Sinton looks real good as does #25& #21. QB looks pretty good for a youngun.

Turbo, Raymondville made the playoffs last year and lost to Orange Grove. They returned a ton of players this year. We subbed in the first quarter last year and almost got beat.

Go Pirates!!! Beat Raymondville!

(since PI already lost, last thing we need is for Raymondville to win, and rub PI's loss in our faces)

Traditionally speaking, Sinton gets pretty tough in OT's. Lets hope that holds true! wink

OK, here is what happened...when she called Raymondville had the ball with seconds left in the game & they attempted a 50 yard field goal & we blocked it, but also had penalties & the game, as we all know, can not end with defensive penalties :( so they were able to kick it again & they made it. Game over---Raymondville 31 Sinton 28. <big sigh> Sounds like these kids are gonna be HUNGRY for their next game!!

08-29-2003, 10:23 PM
Oh well, I think you're right, should fire 'em up for the next one. First game jitters are gone now.

Oh man.....watch out for the Raymondville posters rubbing it in tomorrow. Not just for Sinton.....but also for Port Isabel losing to La Vernia.

Heh, heh, we'll just tell 'em to come see us in NOVEMBER, then we'll talk! wink

Well, we'll be seeing them in October. But also, I was wrong, they'll probably start rubbing our losses in our faces as soon as they get home....the game WAS in Raymondville wasn't it?

Heh, heh, we'll just tell 'em to come see us in NOVEMBER, then we'll talk! wink Well, if La Feria makes the playoffs, Sinton won't see Raymondville again. So if Sinton wants a payback game, y'all better hope La Feria doesn't make the playoffs.

<------slaps himself "be a good sport!"

Anyhow, big time congrats to the Raymondville Bearkats for their big win over Sinton. Keep up the good work, and we'll be seeing you October, 17th in Port Isabel.

Oso's gonna be tough this year if the grades don't get 'em.

pirate4state
08-29-2003, 10:51 PM
I agree, Oso's our 1st district game & this year we are playing there. Now that this first game is over, I'm looking forward to the season. I think that this first game, gets most of the butterflies out of the way, coaches can review film & work out some kinks & get ready for the rest of the season. As I see it every team that plays in the Zero week has a leg up, so to speak! wink

sinton66
08-29-2003, 10:57 PM
I agree, and I think Raymondville was prolly a little EXTRA hungry for us this year after last year's game. I think we may have peeved 'em subbing after the first quarter like that. These kids are just getting used to each other. May take a few games.

This is a little bit of a pleasant surprise.......the Raymondville posters haven't shown up yet. They're all probably at Whataburger celebrating.

Hey, I just want to say Sinton played a great game. It was a real nail-biter, I thought for sure yall had it but the kids really wanted this one bad. Those last couple of minutes were crazy. Good luck next week w/GP. And by the way were at the Pizza Hut celebrating.

Sounds like Sinton played their hearts out. Gave Raymondville a good game for the first of the year. Learn from your mistakes and play hard again next week against GP. Go Pirates! Make it 2 in a row against the Wildcats.

Just wanted to clear up what happened at the end of the game. Raymondville ran the ball with Sinton stopping them at about the Sinton 43 when time ran out. Sinton had a penalty, so Raymondville had one last play. They tried a 50 yrd. field goal but Sinton blocked it, however Sinton had another penalty. That moved Raymondville closer 10 or 15 yrds., they tried another field goal and made it.

To make a long story short, both field goals were tried with no time on the clock. Thats what makes the lost a little harder to take.

Penalties and turnovers will kill you everytime. You guys know Sinton will get a handle on that stuff though. Might take a couple more games, but we're gonna be ok for district, I think.
