Most records are broken against crappy teams.

That QB is still as good against quality teams. Maybe not 10 TD's? But 5+ is a real possibility. And, that's impressive in it's self. Congrats to "Q". I don't see a 2A school stopping him or Refugio once again this year.

We managed to tie them when the 1's scrimmaged (2-2), and we'll take that as success regardless their classification with the talent that team possesses.

East Texas Tatum, Daingerfield, New Boston, Cameron Yo, Newton, and the list goes on that would beat them like a red headed step child. When they play a team that is good, how will they look. Just my opinion.

Pretty sure the same thing was said last year.

Pretty sure Cisco gave them all they wanted in the SC games last year. Saved by the clock!

The two passes that didn't go for a touchdown must have been a big disappointment. :foul:

Find a current record that was made in the state championship.

Nice record against a Taft team that didn't do themselves many favors. Going for it on 4th and 15 from their own 10. Not real good. Most of those TD's were short passes and long runs.

But look who it was against maybe some sort of record can be set against your east bernard team.

I saw him last year in Victoria. Quintanilla is legit, what a great athlete.

I was at that game too and I have to agree, Refugio got a little lucky. The team that runs up the score by throwing TD's against lesser competition and says "that's just the way we play" sure didn't do that against Cisco last year. When the game got close, and they realized that Cisco was in it for the long haul, Refugio stopped throwing (because they had a couple of :22 second posessions). In fact, I would contend that if the Cisco kid had actually ran the free kick (after the safety) back instead of fair catching it, Cisco wins. There wasn't anyone within 20 yards of him and if he had been able to make 1 kid miss, he may have had a 25 or 30 yd return. "IF" that had happened, Cisco would have had the ball at about the Refugio 40 or 45 yd line with plenty of time. I can assure you, Refugio would have refused a return match.

Wonder if he could play for a 4A or 5A team and have those kind of numbers?

I would think not. The talent level and work ethic in Refugio overall is much higher than most of its competition. At a larger school he wouldn't have weapons that are that much better than the competition. Also, he isn't a very big kid. Arm wise he could play at most bigger schools, but size wise I am not sure if he would get the chance to be the QB at a good large school.

I'm pretty sure this record could easily be broken on any level if a team really wanted to.

If SLC decided they wanted to have 11 passing touchdowns against one of the crappy teams they had played this year then they would.

He was 20-25 for 372 yds.,2-3 passing tds. I think 95% of the people knew this would be a close ballgame. Heck it was for the State Championship!! As someone stated single game records are usually broken against lesser teams. As someone else stated several East Texas would beat Refugio. I think Cisco is from Region 1, so last years R2 rep wasn't good enough to the finals. Refugio would refuse to play Cisco again had they lost? For a chance to play in a state championship again...you're dead wrong there pardner!!

I'm not taking anything from this kid. He's a great QB at the 2A level and would be sucesssful in 3A as well.
Hope he gets a scholarship and can excel at the next level

Yeah, QBs like Colt McCoy, Steven Mcgee, Casey Paschall, GJ Kinne, and such would never make it above a 3A school.... And little guys like Johnny Manziel and Drew Brees cant compete with the 6'5 QBs either.....

If he is close to 6' and is the real deal, he will make it, I think Brees and Manziel are busting the giant QB stereo type in a big way.

Private - 5A, good is good.
