Not even close Plano by at least 21+. They have taken Henderson and Gilmer behind the woodshed. 56-21 and 42-14.
Your making ville better than they really are However they probably would put up a better fight than we did.

Im gonna have to actually agree with Lion70 I have gone over to the dark side! I think Sville would give them a great game, but Prestonwood has to many weapons. I think Prestonwood can play with the top 5a teams this year.

I think it would be a heck of a game. I think Stephenville would do much better against Prestonwood because they have a lot more experienced players than Henderson or Gilmer does. Both Henderson and Gilmer were caught early in the season, too, which boded well for Prestonwood. I think both teams would play better against Prestonwood later in the season, but I don't think either would beat PW still. I think a game between Stephenville and Prestonwood would be a toss-up. That's my opinion.

I agree with Matthew that East Texas is down a little from years past, but there are still a couple of teams that are very capable of making it to the state championship game. At this point, my darkhorse out of East Texas is Kilgore, and I think they could compete, and maybe even beat any of the top ten in the state. They are 4-0, and have outscored their opponents by a combined 145-13. Their schedule has been a little suspect, but we should know more about them as the season progresses. In other words, don't sleep on them. After all, they did go 4 rounds deep in the 4A playoffs last year. You also can't count out Carthage, either, but they've had some turnover problems. If they clean that up they can be a contender, too.

But Stephenville is just like Brownwood. If you say that here then you can follow that up with anything. It is the downlow battle cry. He meant to add that to his post before he put what he did.

Name the last state championship that didn't have an east texas in it. In at least one of the Divisions. Thats what I thought.

Least Texas... The football capital of the universe. We already took the best 3A had to offer from western-least Texas when we demolished LaVag. I don't think there is much more to fear from that direction.

Back on topic.....I think the Prestonwood-Stephenville matchup should be played sometime this season just to settle this issue. Somebody needs to call Jerry and schedule this game since the Cowboys won't be using the stadium for the playoffs this season, LOL. Heck, let's get Fox Southwest to televise it, and get some corporate sponsors to back it and do an advertising campaign for it. Throw in a couple of other teams for a Saturday double-header, and fill the stadium with rabid Texas High School football fans. Any suggestions for the teams to play in the other part of the double header? Good idea, huh. A TAPPS power against a perennial playoff power now in 3A. Maybe get the top Private Christian from Calif. to come on down and play the 5A DI or DII Champ. How about the Saturday following the playoffs in Jerryworld. On ESPN maybe(instead of FOX).

i don't know why you continuously act like henderson has always contributed to the east texas 'dominance' of high school football, henderson sucked for years until they dropped to 3a and happened to have a few good classes come through....FOR EXAMPLE...

2004 5-5
2005 2-8
2006 1-9
2007 4-6
2008 1-9
2009 5-5

that's 18-42 over 6 seasons - henderson sucked before they dropped...

at least stephenville had success in the past (4 state titles) and had also recent success (consecutive trips to regional finals), and now that they are 3a, they are the team to beat and henderson is back to being mediocre....

get over it....

I would hope for them to make the playoffs. We were 3 from last in district and won the District Championship in 2010 and lost in bi district. The other playoff team was in 2001 and lost in bi district. However we did lose in the Statechampionship in the 70s. So we wern't bad always.

LOL. If you want to talk basketball, I would bet anything that Prestonwood's basketball team would destroy Stephenville. If you don't believe me, check out Prestonwood's Mickey Mitchell and Julius Randle highlights from Youtube.

I am almost ready to agree with you, but I think Carthage will do what they always do. District starts them on the roll and on fire when the playoffs get here. My sleeper team from East Texas is Kilgore. They have a D that could play against the Ville or the Rattlers. The O is what I am not sure about. They do not throw much and with out a passing game you can not beat the Ville or the Rattlers. I stand by my first statement, Carthage will play in the state championship game. If I am wrong I will come back for my plate of crow. The two favorites has to be the Ville or the Rattlers. I believe in my Dawgs, hope they can back up my big mouth. God Bless.
