No offense, missed pat, and missed field goal isn't a good combination. Connally out played the Indians tonight and deserved the win.

Only if The Ville lets us down tomorrow! Beat the #10 4A school tomorrow and we'll be OK!;)

Kudos to Connally for a gritty performance and well earned win. From the Alvarado side, I'm not sure how to describe this loss. Connally had eight men in the box all night and we can't capitalize in the passing game until the last drive when we had no other choice but to pass. I hope this is a lesson learned that you just can't line up and run over everyone. The pass was there all night. Clock management at the end of the game was questionable.

Connally has a great shot to make the playoffs. QB and running backs are fast. Defense is small but moves to the ball well. Was very impressed with their effort tonight. Alvarado will be okay. Just points out we have a long way to go to be playoff ready.

Guess Alvarado will just be playing for 3rd place in their own District. Hillsboro has hope yet.

Funny..... We had major injuries. Kids going at 75%. Connally brought their A game just like everyone does to play Alvarado. We will be fine..

Alvarado learned a valuable lesson - with the Indians recent success they had best be ready for every team's best game. They clearly were not ready for Connally's best last night. After 22 straight regular season wins this could serve as the wake up call they needed.

And, FYI, I wouldn't worry about where Alvarado will finish in its district. You might be concerned about where your team finishes though. I was much more impressed with the speed, athleticism and physicalness of Connally than I was with anything China Spring threw at Alvarado last week.

It is never wise to seek or wish for another's misfortune. If malice or envy were tangible and had a shape, it would be the shape of a boomerang.

I was merely commenting on a statement made last week , something about winning the 17 3A Championship.... there is your boomerang.:)

I have no misconceptions about any team in 17 3A. There is no clear cut favorite and West will not win a game.

Alvarado will be fine until we play each other. And 2 years from now Alvarado will be better for having played us on a high level. Competition is good for Alvarado. How was that Waco school compared to La Vega?

How was that Waco school compared to La Vega?Connally was very much like Ft Worth Southwest. Extremely fast. Defense held us to 13. We can blame mistakes but wont. They were just 1 pt better last night.. Congrats WC. Good luck the rest of the way. You will make waves in your district. Good luck to the Alvarado team the rest of the year. I hate to say we we needed to lose one but humility is what will make you stronger. Keep your heads up and show Decatur whos the boss next week!

La Vega is probably 2 td's better than Connally from what saw at the end of last year and some videos of them this year. Good news is they play each other and we can get a better gauge on where we are relatively speaking. Alvarado lacks the big score threat that we had last year with Bates and teams are stacking the box until we prove we can beat them in the passing game. Fortunately for Alvarado we have a very good quaterback, backs that can catch the ball out of the backfield if we just utilize them, and some good hands at the wideout position. Knowing how well Coach Dixon prepares his teams for the playoffs, I fully expect us to improve in the passing game. We also have a few really good and fast JV players that could possible move up and help out. Once the passing game is improved, the running game has the potential to get back where we want to be as a ball control offense. Our defense is giving up yardage but keeping teams out of the end zone. The Stephenville game is where it gets real and we find out if we can hang with the best in the State. Good luck today against Amarillo.
