Coldspring makes their first vist to Rattler Stadium since 2007, a 54-30 victory for the Rattlers. Since then, the two programs have been two of the best in the state although neither has yet to claim a title.

Coldsprings comes off a 21-13 win over 4A Houston King while the Rattlers won at 4A Willis 42-0. Thus far, Navasota's defense hasn't been scored on defeating both #12 Sealy and preseason top 15 4A ranked, Montgomery, 6-0. Montgomery is picked to win their 4A district, followed by Brenham, Willis, & Huntsville. Coldspring also had success against the Willis Wildkats in their scrimmage.

This should be a great ball game.

-Will Coldspring have enough offense to keep up with Navasota's high powered offense?
-Will both defenses shut each other down?
-Does Navasota finally have a defense to match their offensive attack?
-It's early, exactly how good are both of these programs?

#2 Coldspring Trojans @ #3 Navasota Rattlers

Rattler Stadium

* If you plan on being in the Bryan/College Station area or just plan on attending, Rattler Stadium holds 5k. 3k on the home side, 500 in the end zone for the band and drill team and 1500 on the visitor's side. Get there early if you plan on getting a seat on the visitor's side. This will be Navasota's home opener, so, the 3k seats on the home side will go fast too.

I have to go with Nastysota in this one. They will have way to much firepower for Coldspring. The Rattlers will win this one like they did last week. Big. Navasota 42 Coldspring 14.

I think Navasota wins, but there's no way they score anywhere near 42. I'll go with 21-12.

I think this game will tell alot about both programs. I have to go with the home team. Coldspring by 1 td. We have been waiting on this game for awhile. May both teams have a safe injury free game.

Navasota! Not sue what CS has this year, but Rattlers are primed for a deep playoff run.

Except I'm headed thru Snook in the AM and headed to Wimbo in the afternoon. I'd tell you to take an extra order to go for the game but it doesn't eat right cold...:(

Oh yea, and Naversody by 17.

Seems like there will be at least 10 or so downlowers there so we should do a meet and greet. I'm sitting on the home side somewhere near the top.

I'm willing to let someone buy me nachos lol

I'll be making this one. Living four hours away means only catching a few games a year, so I have to make them count. Navasota by three TDs, shocking the state.

Navasota may win but I can't see them putting up more than 21 points against that Coldspring defense.

Apparently you have never seen Navasota play. It could happen but I doubt that Coldsprings defense is that good to keep Navasota under 17 points. Don't get me wrong, the Trojan defense that went to the final may have been able to that. Unless this defense is as good, I doubt that the 2012 Trojan defense will.

Both teams seem to have returned quite a few starters from very good teams last year.

My take is that Navasota is really strong on offense and not as strong on defense, Coldspring is really strong on defense and not as strong on offense.

I can't decide..........someboday help me with some facts!

How did you come to that conclusion?

Navasota 6 Sealy 0 (scrimmage)
Navasota 6 - 4A Montomery 0 (scrimmage)
Navasota 42 Willis 0

So 42-0 in both scrimmages and the first game?

I think he basing it off last year though, when the Rattlers D was average and ya'lls O is what won yall games.

I would put them a little bit better than average, after all, they were 11-2.

But, I think that you are probably right. So far, this defense has been playing lights out.

Stretching their defense and keeping them from loading up at the line should allow for more points scored against the CS defense than most fans think. A good offense that can both run and pass and keep the defense guessing will be successful in scoring points, IMO. This game will be at least a 2 TD differential and Navasota will prevail, and your qb will make the difference in this one.

You are right. Ideally, I hope that this game will be a great learning experience for both teams. As mentioned before, Coldspring is known for their defense and Navasota for their offense. I think some will be surprised in Navasota's defense this season.

As I have good friends over in Coldspring, So, I wish them the best. May both teams come out injury free!

Good Luck, Go SNAKES!

Hate to say, but i believe Navasota is the real deal this year, my preseason favorite to the finals, Rattlers by 7. Should be a slobber knocker with defensive plays on both sides. May be a preview of later date.

I think this is Navasota's year to get to the next level past where they have been ending their season, so I take Navasota in this one by double digits.

Watched CS play Houston King last week (comfortable 100 degrees and 99% humidity) and the lack of continuity on offense this time of the year always makes me want to pull my hair out. Looked like they were trying to figure which one of four tailbacks to have tote the load. Hopefully they have that sorted out and we can see some offense by the Trojans. I figure they will have to score in the 30s to keep up with Navasota. The defense is capable of bringing tons of pressure to bear on the opposition but have proven vulnerable to big plays when facing a balanced attack. That said I am still a homer ....... give me them Trojans by 7. :tisk:

I'm looking forward to this game. Are you planning to attend? If so, get there early. Tailgaiting will be going on on the home side. Remember, the visitor's side only holds 1500.

Gotta go with Navasota and their Sr. star qb Baker in this one. In football, the qb sets the tone for the offense and the way its D will play. A good qb leading the team is such an advantage, and just spreads confidence to every player on the team. When players start playing with that kind of confidence, they are hard to beat. I look for a 2 TD win here for Navasota, only because CS has such a good D. Otherwise, it might be more.
