24-3A
1. La Marque Cougars
Coach: Mike Jackson
2011 record: 11-3 (5-1 in 24-4A)
Last playoff appearance: 2011
Key Players QB Demun Mercer, Sr.; S Devon Hayward, Sr.; DB Reggie Franklin, Jr.
2012 outlook: The Cougars’ move down to Class 3A makes them an even more dangerous program, especially for the established 3A contenders in the area.
Projected finish: First
2. Columbia RoughnecksCoach: Randy Lynch
2011 record: 13-1 (4-0 in 29-3A)
Last playoff appearance: 2011
Key Players: RB Floyd Bess, Sr.; LB Broderick Thomas, Sr.; FS Willis Johnson, Sr.
2012 outlook: The Roughnecks are coming off their second straight loss to Chapel Hill in the 3A Division I state semifinals, where they could end up again.
Projected finish: Second
3. Sweeny Bulldogs
Coach: Brett Sawyer
2011 record: 8-5 (2-2 in 29-3A)
Last playoff appearance: 2011
Key Players: DE Greg Lemon, Sr.; RB Dante Lemons, Jr.; LB Joel Higgins, Sr.
2012 outlook: The Bulldogs made the third round of the playoffs last year and Lemon and Lemons could leave a sour taste in their opponents’ mouths this season.
Projected finish: Third
4. Stafford Spartans
Coach: Bill Wilson
2011 record: 2-8 (0-4 in 24-3A)
Last playoff appearance: 2004
Key Players: RB/DB Easy Anyama, Sr.; OL/DL Jose Reyes, Sr.; WR/DB Vance Andrews, Sr.
2012 outlook: The small district field and the presence of a versatile athlete in Anyama give the Spartans a playoff chance, but getting there won’t be easy.
Projected finish: Fourth
5. Sunnyside Senators
Coach: Archie Craft
2011 record: Did not play.
Last playoff appearance: None.
Key Players: LB Willie Gabriel, Jr.; RB Crayg Smith, Jr.; QB David Lopez, Jr.
2012 outlook: The charter-school Senators fared well as a JV squad, but this is a big step up for the first-year varsity facing the likes of Columbia and La Marque.
Projected finish: Fifth

But you never know....that's what everyone in La Marque thought when Manvel first entered the district 3 years ago. They had our number in '09, we beat them twice in '10, but then they double dipped us last year and ended up in the Dallas Palace for "the Big Show".

So....we'll see

I grew up about 6 blocks from where KIPP now stands. I don't think they could beat our freshmen. They're gonna be whooped like they stole something!
