Region I Week 0 GotW: Bridgeport Vs. Alvarado

"Friday Night Lights" is finally here! Alvarado is good, but not good enough to underestimate, or overlook a quality, well coached opponent like the Bridgeport Bulls...should be a great game to kickoff this season.
i see the game being close early with the Indians pulling away in the second half....

If we can control the ball and hold them from striking quickly we will win by 14. Have a couple of defensive stops then Alvarado will control the clock. Hard to score when your offense isn't on the field.

Bridgeport did have its two scrimmages with Argyle and Celina, so maybe that helped a little bit to get the team ready for an Alvarado. I still voted for Alvarado, though.

Alvarado should win this game fairly easy. The Bulls have a long way to go still and struggled pretty bad against Celina.

Alvarado should be the favorite here, but if Bridgeport gets the offense going like the past few years they can score quickly. Hopefully the new QB situation for Bridgeport and the pressure our D-line should put on him works to our advantage. Alvarado by 14.

The Bulls are running the gauntlet to start the season---scrimmages with Argyle & Celina, WK0-Alvarado, and Wk1-Abilene Wylie. They say that which does not kill makes you stronger---I think the young Bulls will get better every week and be ready for a strong District run, and hopefully, a playoff berth. Going to be a tough start, but I hope that we get by these good teams without injury, and maybe even have a shot at making these teams player's hearts go pitty-pat some if we are able to light up the scoreboard. I am really glad that our HC scheduled these great programs to start things off---all are quality programs with good coaches, and great fans. I look forward to our meeting with Abilene Wylie, as I don't think we have ever played them.

Meanwhile, the Bulls have a bunch of Indians to tame Friday night....

Alvarado by 7. I think the offense struggles somewhat. QB got banged up in the last scrimmage. Defensive still looked pretty good but we have not been tested with any passing game yet. Could be an upset if were not prepared for this one.

I would say Alvarado is going to take both games out of this district. They play Decatur in week 5 and the result will be the same im sure. Nothing against both teams I just think Alvarado has more athletes than the two of them combined.

#8 got a big cheer at the community pep rally last nite! as did alot of Indians with Coach Dixon and staff.
#18 will be starting his third season as the Indian QB this friday night...the Indians are 26-3 with him under center..

That's an impressive number for West. Argyle was 39-4 the last 3 seasons, and Aune went 36-3 under center in his varsity career as our starter. A good qb with a winning mindset is hard to beat, in more ways than one.

This wasn't the same Bridgeport teams I've seen over the past few years, but it was typical Alvarado football. Ball control offense, run down your throat 3,4,5 yards at a time. The defense swarmed the ball, hurried th QB and created mistakes then capitalized.

yep! when he wants something, he does have that high torque gear!

Bridgeports O-line is big and pretty good..and the QB just needs confidence..their RB is good....i can see them being pretty darn good as the season progresses/
