We have a good shot at repeating...but as the article says, we have even bigger obstacles in front of us as compared to last year, and its obvious we have less of a talent pool than last year as well (regarding depth). With that said...we will be in the hunt, we have the experience and the coaching, and we know how to win. Don't count us out. We will not go quietly.

Hello wimbo_pro! I assume you mean you have a good shot at repeating as district champions?
Otherwise, you may be getting ahead of yourself a bit.

No, I meant we have a good shot at repeating as State Champions. But remember, in August, there are probably 30 teams that can make that claim as well. By the way, the entire State looks to all Reigning State Champions to see if they can do it again, so its no real leap of faith to talk about it openly. With that said, I repeat...we have a good shot at it, but we have large obstacles in front of us this year that we didnt have last year.

Just seems a tad early, that's all.

Not too early when you are the reigning Champs and everyone in the State is asking. As far as predicting...I predict we will make the play-offs.

I agree with prediction. I am sure Texans will make playoffs and likely win district. Will just have to see how new passing game pans out to determine if they can be elite and make a deep playoff run. A bunch of new faces. If passing game is good, they will likely be in the mix.

We will make a deep run just gotta develop the young talent in pre district so they are ready by district. Once district starts develop them even more and build them for the long playoff run I hope we have.

Good point. I was wrong, yall aren't making any predictions, just discussing if you have the pieces to defend the title.

Texans have a tough 4 game stretch in pre district...Giddings, Dripping Springs, La Vernia, and Liberty Hill. All of these teams were playoff teams last season. Giddings was in first year of new coach last year. Drippings' seniors last year had never been real good. Makes me think that they had some young talent to go 3 deep in 4A out of tough district. La Vernia had good playoff run with some young guys. Liberty Hill was solid last year. They had a pretty good senior class last year, however. Not sure about this year.

I think GF had my WT t-shirt from last year at the state game. Still have it bud? I really want me a WT shirt. After all the excitement after the state victory vs Argyle, I wasn't able to make it to your pickup to get it. Now, I'm 95% sure your the one that brought me a t-shirt up from Wimberley to Cowboy Stadium. If not, I'm sure the one that brought it, is reading this. LOL.

GF, wish your son and his mates well for another successful season. Loved partaking in their memorable ride with them last year, all the way to state.

I miss officiating a few of the Texans games too when they play a team in our coverage area. Coach Nelms a great man to call for. I had them in Cuero and LaVernia in the past, till my son played varsity the past 2 years and I gave up my crew to watch him. It's been priceless I assure you. I'll return to the stripes next year as a crew chief, and hope we get nothing but 3A games on our schedule. I'll take a Cuero, LaVernia type game any day over some of the 4A, 5A's we cover. Too me, 3A ball is the best. Entire towns show up instead of about 75 for a game at the Rock Pile or SAISD Complex. LOL. Gotta love Texas 3A Football . I been so blessed to see my son play and will miss it after this season and he moves on to college to begin his next phase of becoming a man. Thankful to have him around Coach Kornegay and his staff. It's the kid first before the game, and they have developed a nice young man when he's in their care. That's all a parent can ask for.

So, once again---good luck WT and the new friends I've met over the past few years there at their playoff games. I'd give anything, for my son to experience that playoff excitement just once. They have it in them, with one of our most talented teams in decades, but--it's in their hands now to produce. Light's are on boy's, and why not Yoakum? This senior group of Dog's even game from 21 down against a WT JH team, to tie them 33 all as I recall.

WT it wasn't me, but I remember the thead and remember someone was going to bring you one! I would'nt have forgot, knowing you were an Official and all. LOL. Good luck to ya'll this year, I believe Yoakum will surprise some people for sure.

Crap...I guess that makes me a snitch (hold your comments please). FYI..I really enjoyed going back and reading all the hype and chest thumping so it was worth it. You really think you can hold him to that shirt from last year? Heck... I may have bought it from him outside the stadium...you snoozed so you lose. LOL...

Very true Sportshack. I predict LH will be the toughest of the 4, especially because the game in is LH. Either way, I'm glad we have this schedule in pre-season, a good test for our team.

Yes that was me! I was saving seats for 10 of us but the shirt was left on the bus. I called you after the game but you didn't answer! Sorry but that shirt is in Germany now with my oldest grandson. I will be sure to get you another one if we make it back this year!

It's a tad on the humid side down this way. and other than juco football, cows, and a tour of the Blue Bell Creamery, the Brenham area doesn't offer as many attractions and activities as the Austin-Wimberley - Hill Country area. Especially those that young men typically like to pursue. I have never once heard someone say, "let's go float the Brazos".
