This one should be good.

Yup. Get better Dog's and avoid anymore booboo's. Solid test here. Wish they would run at least 1 live quarter. But, Refugio want's it all controlled. That stinks, Yoakum has some timing issue's (new signaling system in from sideline) they need to work on before start of season.

Second thought, guess our coaches don't have to stand out there in the way. Can't hold our boy's hand next week anyways. They can go to our sideline and treat it like a game situation even if it considered a controlled scrimmage. Just no clock, TO's, punts, etc. Be nice to work on our kicking game too. We lost old reliable, Jeff Harrison from last year, and he held those chores down the prior year or two. Sure miss him handling those aspects of the game. But, we are coming around in that area. It will be vital we get it lined out by district I assure you. All aspects of a football game will be paramount in district play this year. One game at a time Bulldogs. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Get better in practice, and it will translate to positive production on Friday nights.

Speaking of Harrison, wish him well at Kingsville A&M this year.

We have a very talented team, but--it is leaderless currently. Someone better step up ASAP. Coaches can't play, so--someone participating in the war on the field, better take charge. It would be shame to see this team (who as always been successful overall) not reach their goal, cause it couldn't find a leader. We have some that like to lead when the ball's coming to them, then just go through the motions when it goes to another "family" member. I've seen it many times, talented teams end their season way before they should of, cause no leaders. Guess they'd rather follow, than lead? Some can talk the talk, but---you know the rest. Step up!!!!

I have a feeling that a leader will emerge once the "real" Friday nights get here. I like the fact that we have 5 non-district games instead of the 3 like last year. We have two more games now to prepare for what promises to be a tough District 26-3A. You would think after 5 non-district games, our senior leadership won't be in question. Guess only time will tell on that. I also hope that some of our 'Dogs learn to play with a little more instinct instead of over-thinking things. Play with instinct and go 190 mph on every play. We need to bring the wood on "D" and be the most physical team every Friday night. The intimidation factor will go a long way in helping you put W's on the board. As I've stated year-in and year-out, if Yoakum can ever learn to play with more INTENSITY, DETERMINATION, HEART & DESIRE (I.D.H.D.), then watch out. We'll get a good test tonight in Refugio. I just want us to win the "hitting" battle. Who cares about the scoring. I want Refugio to remember Friday, August 24th when the Bulldogs came to town. *****RELENTLESS*****FINISH*****

Yes, the #1's tied 2-2 and Refugio beat us 3-0 on the 2's. No injury's this week like last, so--went ok. As everyone knows, Refugio is loaded and will be a force again in the playoffs. Very impressive team.

We did well H&L. Vanilla offense, we had long successful drives. Tough road venue, and most importantly-- didn't sustain any injury's this week unlike last week. We gotta keep working hard to reach ya'lls level H&L, before we travel to LaGrange and face your very talented son and his mates.

We have plenty to work on as well, we have some special teams issues we will need to clean up. District will be very tough from top to bottom, any team is capable of winning each week.

We have special team issues as well. When you lose an reliable, well above average punter/kicker from the prior 2 years in Harrison, you kinda take those positions for granted. It's been secured in the past. In our district this season, special team play will be paramount and will determine several game outcomes. Better be able to angle punt, pooch KO -- with the stud returners in district awaiting your punt/kickoff. I see nothing wrong letting district foe's set up at their 35, instead of letting them return it.

I'm surprised too Hooker. Figured Refugio starters would of smoked Yoakum. 2-2 tie, surprising. This wasn't Lockheart (where ever that is), but--a loaded #1 2A ranked Bobcat team that could beat 70+% of 3A teams. Of course, my Sam Houston Hurricanes are in that 30% range.;)
