Notes: Both team's were short key starters due to minor injuries heading into scrimmage that didn't play. Yoakum Soph QB did a fine job IMO, and did sustain an injury near the end. Not sure of extent. Both clubs appeared in shape for this part of the year. Still things we must improve on. A positive effort by both IMO. Ykm 0-line coming around.

Next week, Yoakum travels to Refugio, Friday, 7PM.

The Bulldogs look real good this year. Their QB/WR combo (don't know the numbers/names) is a good one. Yoakum came out strong with a lot of enthusiasm and Bellville seemed kind of flat. IMO (and probably in the opinion of most of the folks there), Yoakum beat Bellville at the line scrimmage, especially in the first series. It is obvious that Bellville has a lot of work to do on the OL and DL. We were missing a key player on the OL that led to some blocking execution problems, that's not an excuse, it just puts a spotlight on what we need to do and/or we need to switch some personnel around to find the combination to get the job done. The offense did better in the second series with the first teamers, so that is positive. I was not keeping close track of TD's or first downs, but it seemed like Yoakum was able to move the ball pretty well against our defense. Our D looked flat, had several missed assignments, and what bothers me the most, did a poor job of tackling on several plays.

Like YT said, we had several starters, and two of our fastest kids, on the sidelines with injuries, that's comes with football and others have to step up. I looking forward to the seeing some improvement by our next scrimmage on Thursday.

This was just a scrimmage, and it served it's purpose.
I expect/know we can play better and I am sure we will be much better by the time we start district.
For sure we are not in danger of peaking too early this season!.
