UIL brass says a location has not been finalized for the 2012 state championships, but Cowboys Stadium appears to be a lock. Alamodome is trying to make some improvements (ie dressing facilities) but at least for this year its too little too late. Expect an announcement soon.

The enrollment disparity in 3A isn't going away anytime soon, just not enough schools in the 500-1000 range. The UIL says fixing the enrollment problem from the bottom up (ie turn six man into 1A, 1A into 2A etc) will help some, but there will still be a gap.

Adding Division I and Division II into 3A will be voted on in October.

Why is it that we seems we are the ones that get the disparity?

because there aren't many schools in the 500-1000 range

Looks like next thing is to vote of 2 separate divisions for 3A, then next realignment raise the enrollment numbers on the high end to 1050 to capture a few more schools from 4A. That would be my best guess for the thinking on this subject.

We have enough 4A schools in 3A...let's capture some 2A.

Barring an unexpected influx of youth into the Gilmer ISD who actually want to attend a public school rather than receive instruction at home or church, I think you will be very pleased with where Gilmer stands in the new scheme (one of the largest enrollments in the new Division II of Class 3A).

I think being top dog in enrollment is overrated as a factor, though. The participation rate for the Buckeyes is so high and enthusiastic that having only 631 students doesn't matter as much as one might think. And you have NEVER heard Coach Traylor whine about it whenever we've been in Division I the way the former Celina coach did last year.

That would simply widen the gap...it will get fixed some when the UIL adds 6A....

3a will probably be

470-1070 next go round

Top end is too high. Construction of new 4A and 5A schools has slowed and so fewer small 4As will be pushed down. Bottom end is probably about right but I'd like it higher if UIL can make new 2A 100-234 and new 3A 235-499.
