On this site, Padilla, FNF, and DCTF and wrote down only the teams all 3 polls agreed were top 10 worthy. The teams consist of:
Carthage
Stephenville
LaMarque
La Vega
Navasota
Wimberley

Then I took each teams ranking from each poll and added them together and divided by 3 to get an average for all 3 polls. Here is how it went:
1) Stephenville 1.67 avg
1) Carthage 1.67 avg
3) LaMarque 3.00 avg
4) Navasota 4.67 avg
5) La Vega 6.33 avg
6) Wimberley 6.67 avg

Dang Beast, good work!!! I think you just created a great way to market the "Beast Poll" Taking those averages, you would be hard pressed to argue that top 6.

Just messing with you. My wife is the grammar queen at our home. It will be interesting to see how the rankings play out using your calculations. Of course I know you hope/feel there will be another team on that list very soon.

I am very happy for my team to fly under the radar as long as possible.

Somebody wanna post the Padilla Poll for all of us to look at???

Someone posted one earlier but apparently it's a subscription site and the person shouldn't have posted the info from the poll.

Here is another idea based on an aggregate ranking from multiple polls...

Assign a point value to each ranking position (1-10) 1=10 points, 2=9 points, etc...

Then total the points for each team and sort them according to the value...

(yellow teams appear in top 10 of all 4 polls)

Based on that, with these 4 polls it is:

1 - Stephenville - 37
2 - Carthage - 28
3 - Navasota - 27
4 - La Marque - 24
5 - Coldspring - 20
5 - Wimberley - 20
6 - La Vega - 18
7 - Alvarado - 14
8 - Henderson - 8
9 - Celina - 6
9 - Gilmer - 6
10 - Argyle - 5
11 - Columbia - 3
12 - Melissa - 2
12 - Monahans - 2

Everyone pretty much agrees that the Max Preps power ranking poll is pretty worthless at this point in the season. It becomes more accurate and useful after some games have been played. At this point, Max Preps leaves Carthage and LaMarque out of the top 10, and adds Melissa, a team that just moved up from 2A and "graduated the house" after their 2A SC last year. It is so radically different from the other three polls, that it is an obvious statistical outlier and should be thrown out or ignored in any aggregate analysis.

So, if you toss out Max Preps, your method of assigning a 1-10 value based on ranking in each of the remaining polls does nothing to change the combined comparative ranking from the BEAST poll for the six teams that are in the top 10 of all three polls, other than assign a sum rather than take an average. It does provide a way to get the rest of the teams who are in the top 10 in only 1 or 2 of the polls on a list for comparison.........but most likely you would want to throw out the teams on only 1 or 2 polls as outliers as well.

The BEAST poll rules.
