So, during Burnet's football camp this week, a new kid was there (from New Mexico). His pony-tailed Mel Gibson look-alike dad lurked the sidelines with great interest. This kid was pretty big for his age (incoming 8th grader) and looked like an athlete. Well, on the first day of camp, he decided to tell his fellow Burnet teammates he had recently run a 4.5 40:thinking:........Little did he know that on the 2nd day of camp Burnet coaches make all kids run the 40 and record it on their certificates. Talk about the pressure this kid put on himself!....Turns out his best 40 time at camp was a 5.2. Actually not too bad for a kid that age...But it was funny to hear him tell everyone else, "man, I've never run that slow in my life!"......hmmmm......:tisk:

I just hope they dont ever want to race me again. lol However even at 43 I still can run a 4.7. And thats out of shape. Of course i am then done for the day.:D

Never ever believe a move-in that brags about how fast they are or how strong they are. Sure sign that they aren't.

It seems the distortion of 40 times is directly tied to how far East you travel....:D

Of course, a 4.5 40 in East Texas is just "normal". Now if you can get it to 4.3, you may be able to compete for a starting position, lol.

I lol when kids or anybody for that matter talk about 40 times

These guys are headed to the NFL,
everyone of them train just for the events a couple of months before this,
and are just plain amazing

Some of these guys are running 4.6 +
I'd love to see someone run with some of the slow RBs

I think there is obviously a very skewed opinion of what a fast 40 time.

The oldest, junior DT at UNT, is 6'4" and 275. Extremely intimidating just watching him run 40's. There is no arm wrestling. The youngest, junior OT at China Spring, has past me in height and picked me up and moved me out of the door way.

I guess I will just stomp my foot from now on.

Knew a kid that once told me he held the state record for rushing yards at the JH level in Oklahoma. Just looking at him you knew he wasn't an RB. First thing I said was "I didn't know they kept statistical records at the JH level." He lasted about a week and a half before he quit. We all laughed and just kept playing. What some people will say to make them look better.

4.35 is tier 2? Lmao Not many NFL'ers run below 4.35.

4.20-4.34 is top flight NFL speed

Chris Johnson, DeSean Jackson, Deion Sanders type. There are not many of those people out there. So yes I think they deserve their own tier.

Stephenville's Preston Brown ran a legit 4.31 in Texas's mini camp this summer. That's quick.
