Celina got forst and fourth, for 14 points in the shot bringing the total for the meet to 80 points. 80 points is a new state record for the most points by a team in 3A, beating the old record by one.

Looking at times and distances, Celina would have come in 3rd in 5A, with 38 points, behind Desota and Galena Park North Shore. Not a bad day at the track for a small 3A school. Celina's Roos would have taken 2nd in the Disc and won the Shot in 5A.

There were some blazing times in the 5A meet. Bailey from Timberview runs the 400M Dash better than any highschooler in the nation and has the 7th best time in the Nation at any level. He may have a shot at qualifying for the olympics if he can stay healthy. There were 4 200 m sprinters under 21 seconds, and the 1600 M race was won in 4:06 after winning the 3200M earlier in the day with an 8:59.

The Bailey kid from Timberview is rated #12 in the world this year. Pretty amazing! Also, the kid from Grand Prairie who won the 100 in a ridiculous time of 10.19 is committed to West Point! I wish I knew that kid...he must be special.

Just total team excellence from the Celina Boys Track Team this year. Congrats on your State Team Title. And congrats to that 4x400 relay team that are all football players. Very stout showing for Celina.

I had the great pleasure to watch the 5A girls' discus. Shelbi Vaughan, Mansfield Legacy, had set the 5A record in 2011 with a throw of 161' and was throwing again yesterday. She broke her record not once, but twice...175'4" and 187'10"!


And an even greater pleasure was getting to sit with crabman & Mrs. crabman for awhile. :)

Stafford saved their best for last. Based on their times out of Region, my expectation was they would get 20 points. They did that in the 4X100m. They had a great meet finishing second with 58 points. I had assumed Liberty-Eylau and Lubbock Estacado would have finished 2nd and 3rd. Great meet for Stafford.
