7 on 7 this year was organized by TFA (Texas Football Association??) by two fellas in Liberty Hilly.......Our incoming 7th graders couldn't get enough boys to sign up...they wanted to, but many could not afford the $60 entry fee...especially since most of em' have or are about to dish out $$$ for Burnet's annual football camp in June....Too bad..I hate being poor!...But the boys will be fine come season time.......How is 7 on 7 going in your area?.....Is it costing more to play in your neck of the woods?..

Greendawg, I'm thinkin' of tryin' to get as many dads involved over the course of the summer where we can gather the boys at the field on weekends just to throw the ball around. The youngin's (6th graders) already know quite a few plays from pre-athletics. I just think it's good to get them together as much as possible....mainly to develop the closeness and team unity that I feel is so important to be successful..maybe even do some non-sports related stuff (like fishin' and stuff)......so, you gonna help me out?? (oh, and I'll try not to start any fights with any women that might be runnin' the track or something!!)

Things are just starting to get into full swing in Cameron. I believe we have 4 teams(V,JV,8th,7th) playing this year. We played Lexington yesterday and fared well. We are supposed to be back tomorrow if we have enough players that will go(holiday in Cameron - Yoe Day). I think teams such as Giddings & La Grange could be in the mix. The Lexington SQT will be next weekend.

I love 7 on 7 . What a great way to keep your skill players working out other than lifting and speed camp stuff. Talking to some kids in Wimberley, seems like they are all pumped to start playing. We play in a league with 4A and 5A teams, so good practice. Plus Wimberley is re loading with a new QB and many new receivers so 7 on 7 is a bigger deal this summer than some.

Lorena Varsity and JV are playing league play right now at McGregor, each Monday. Then will roll into 7v7 SQT's, then play league play at 5A Waco Midway. Bought us some new chairs at Sams for the occassions.

Is the economy and gas prices hurting 7on7 now?

No because the big school tournaments fill up more quickly now than they ever have..

I think the issue in Lorena and Lexington is both tournaments are pulling from the same pool of teams....Lorena had the tournament filled but coaching changes at schools caused teams to drop...Anahuac also had a coaching change so they had a few weeks where no one was working the tournament or making calls

Rice Consolidated had a full tournament but a team dropped out due to baseball

Kind of surprised Giddings would not be interested. What happens with 7 teams?
